Final Fantasy XIII-2 just launched in the Land of the Rising Sun on December 15, but there is already some nifty downloadable content available.
It's the Omega DLC pack, and it's out for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game. As the name implies, the pack gives you the Omega monster; if you can take it down, you can summon it into combat whenever you like.
If you're in North America and you want a shot at Omega, the best way to do it is to pre-order from Amazon.com; the Omega DLC is the online retailer's pre-purchase incentive. We assume it'll drop onto the PSN at some point, but we imagine the sooner you can get your hands on Omega, the sooner your party will rock. Of course, that's assuming Omega is a powerful monster; long-time fans will immediately think of Omega Weapon from Final Fantasy VIII …the ultimate boss. He was tough; needed Squall's Lionheart to go off a bunch of times.
If he's anything like that – and he probably won't be – in XIII-2, it'd be like cheating to have him in your party. It'd still be fun, though.
