Atlus USA has decided to tease the hell out of their loyal fans; just check their Twitter page …yep, it's another frustrating, "guess what the mystery game is" situation.
They help us out, though. We know the game will be a strategy/RPG, and we know it starts with a "G" and ends with an "R." Okay, that really only gives us two possibilities (based on the titles we currently know): it could be Gungnir , which is also known as Inferno of the Demon Lance and the War of Heroes ; it launched in Japan earlier this year, so maybe it's coming to the US now. The other possibility is a new Growlanser , a strategy/RPG series that has proven more popular in Japan than here.
Atlus is such an awesome company, though, so we'll forgive them for this. Besides, we love a good strat/RPG so whatever this game turns out to be, we'll probably want to play it. These guys have a reputation for really delivering high-quality products this generation, and their PR peeps have a definite flair. Trust us on that.
Noooooooo! Persona 5 please.
I want a Persona game on the PS3 so badddd. I wouldn't even mind if it was a HD collection from the PS1 era. Now that I think about it that is the only thing they have disappointed me with, releasing SMT games on the PSP. I loathe playing on a handheld and really wish they would bring those games to the PS3 as well as the PSP.
Obviously they're going to be like, "Haha! Everyone who tried so hard at that mystery game, well too bad. We lied, it's not related to this at all. It's Persona 5 😉 we just like messin' with you all"
We keep on hearing rumours about Persona 5 and here was my reaction today reading it:
"Atlus Teases…
YES YES WAIT FOR IT!
"….new mystery…."
OH BOY!
"…strategy/RPG."
Fu**.
Oh well, I hope it's good, whatever it is. I love pretty much anything Atlus makes it's just that I really love Shin Megami Tensei.

Precisely my reaction ZenChichiri, I love J-RPG's but on strategy games, hence why I never got into FFT or Valkyria Chronicles.

It doesn't matter what it is to me Atlus has never disappointed me in the slightest way. I'm looking forward to it especially being a SRPG.
I have Growlancer Generations on PS2 (which is Growlancer 2 and 3).
They were fantastic strategy jRPG's. If that is what it ends up becoming, it's a D1P for sure. I would recommend it to any fan of the genre in a heartbeat.
Multiple endings are common in the series and your main character's relationship with each person has an effect on the storyline.
Anyways, I loved it.
A ring that turns into a weapon? Sweet.

Pretty sure that a Growlanser game was released in Japan over the last few months…
bleh I want a Persona!!! Or just a horror based Shin Megami Tensei game >….<

I know you all want persona, but seriously, Growlancer was awesome. If that's what it ends up being, it's still excellent quality jRPG goodness.

It's not like it's bad news, in fact it's good news, it's just with so many rumours floating around about Persona 5 it tickled me. Growlancer is cool, but I still prefer me some SMT.
atlus is the new squaresoft for me. i havent bought a square game since FF13 and that was a waste. 13-2 looks no different to me and well we all know versus isnt coming out this gen, they'll wait till next gen so they can release multiplat.
i mean catherine was an amazing game, it didnt cost much to make (im sure) and is very entertaining.
we do need more strat RPGs.
and valkyria chronicles is no longer on PS3.
only RPGs im playing right now are Mass effect 2, dark souls and 3d dot game heroes. so yes, im hurting.
Growlancer or Gungnir… My best guesses…

Maybe a new Ogre Battle game! Sounds good either way, though.
