Skyrim Ships 7 Million, Should Result In $450 Million Return

Sales equal money. Money equals good news for all those involved, right?

Today, Bethesda has announced the official ship numbers for their amazing new RPG, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim : 7 million worldwide across PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Therefore, Bethesda is now anticipating a return of about $450 million on those 7 million units, and they also add that over 50% of launch units were sold in the first two days. Now, provided that the 7 million reported and the "launch units" are one in the same, this means that approximately 3.5 million copies were actually sold in the first 48 hours. As far as we're concerned, the team is getting exactly what they deserve: financial success.

It's also nice to see hardcore, in-depth experiences proving popular; it essentially confirms that gamers are still a diverse, avid group that doesn't just flock to anything mainstream. If Skyrim and Dark Souls have sold well, I'd say the die-hard gamers are in good shape.
