Rainbow 6 Patriots: Terrorism And “Tough Ethical Choices”

The last time we saw this franchise was in 2008, when Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 hit store shelves. It's time for another entry, even though we have to wait until 2013.

Ubisoft has officially confirmed Rainbow 6 Patriots , which will launch for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

The development team from Ubisoft Montreal will lead while the Toronto and Red Storm teams will assist. The plot is both compelling and controversial: the elite Rainbow 6 squad has to put down a group of American insurgents who call themselves the "True Patriots." Along the way, Rainbow members will be forced to make "tough ethical decisions."

Said Ubisoft creative director David Sears:

"Terrorism has evolved and so has Rainbow 6. In Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6 Patriots, all the team play, tactics, and realism that fans of the series love have been coupled with an exciting new narrative direction. This adds an unprecedented level of humanity that will make Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6 Patriots an extremely tense and immersive experience."

Unsurprisingly, the game will boast both cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes. If you're unfamiliar with this franchise, these games are squad-based shooters that require strategy and teamwork when approaching any objective or obstacle. And you can bet that Ubisoft is going for the ultimate in realism and authenticity.

Sweet, This is the one FPS franchise that I adore. I've been waiting for something new. Although I'm both slightly disappointed and highly relieved they didn't keep with Vegas/ other city type thing. I'll be looking forward to this.

Another thing I am expecting is lag filled servers during online play. Vegas was so hit and miss on the 360 and the PS3, it was painful at times.

Hopefully it'll have the mission planning option to examine the map before the missions starts and then coordinate where your team members will go on the map once it starts, like the originals did. But most likely it will just be another straight shooter like the last few in the series. Though still fun, I really miss the real tactical elements the series was known for. Though Critical Hour, for the Xbox, did go back to the original formula.

I kinda wish it wasn't taking placed in NY. So many other cities that they could have used. But I will be still getting this. I do hope they keep Terrorist Hunt in the game. As Terrorist Hunt is want I play most.

I am so flapping excited. In my own little book, BF and CoD don't touch RSV2 (again, my opinion), so I am jacked to see a title FINALLY in the works. The target gameplay trailer looks absolutely amazing and I truly hope that is the direction they take.
