The New Operation In Raccoon City Begins On March 20

Raccoon City is once again infested with evil, and it'll be up to you to save it from the undead's clutches.

Developed by Slant Six ( SOCOM ), Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is a new take on the legendary franchise, and it's more third-person shooter and less survival/horror. Thankfully, hardcore fans needn't worry about Capcom abandoning the classic theme, which should return with Resident Evil 6 .

Now, Capcom has confirmed that the new spin-off will launch on March 20 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360; the PC version will release later. Take control of several elite commandos employed by the Umbrella Corporation; for the first time, we'll actually be on the side of Umbrella, which has been depicted in a dark, negative light in past installments.

If you want to pre-order the game at participating retailers, you can grab an extra costume for each of the playable characters, plus two retailer-exclusive bonus weapons. Lastly, there will be a Special Edition, featuring a steelbook case, two embroidered patches and all eight bonus weapons. Personally, I'll probably be more into RE6, but I believe Capcom can create a positive spin-off.

Slant Six??
Those are the folks who goofed on Socom so eh?? will wait for reviews.

And its not Capcom doing the developing but Slant Six so my hopes for a good game are .5 on a scale of one to ten.

I'm quite leery about this one….and not because of any zombies either.

I reckon they should re-release the Resi Evil Outbreak games on PSN & XBL with tarted up visuals. That game had massive online potential & had a decent scene going with the RE online community at the time. But it may not be worth it as this game here looks fairly similar in the way that you're fighting the apocalypse with other players.

I personally hope they drop us into various scenarios like the Outbreak games did, like an infected zoo, the police station in RE2 & maybe even place the mansion from the first RE in there for nostalgias sake. I also hope they bring back all the classic enemies, Nemesis, Mr X & the lickers are shoe-ins but i'd like to see Birkin & the giant crocodile from RE2 make an appearance too.

I will give this a whirl, but i am not expecting a true survival horror RE rebirth until Capcom announce RE6.

When I heard this game was pretty much a shooter instead of a "survival horror" game like much of the RE series, I pretty much became disinterested in it. Now that I know Slant Six is the developer, I'm really out… I still own SOCOM: Confrontation, but it's spent less than 5 hours in my PS3 since I bought it the day it was released…

I'm not getting this. I wish they would go back to Survival Horror..

Didn't really care for RE5, I still have it just don't play it anymore.
