Japan Gets Persona 4 On July 10

The PS2 may be in its twilight years, but don't think for a second that promising new games are out of the question. Leave it up to Atlus to keep the PS2 alive with its own special brand of role-playing entertainment; the publisher (via Siliconera) has just revealed Persona 4 for release in Japan on July 10.

The previous installment blended two RPG franchises ( Shin Megami Tensei and Persona , so the actual name of the last game was Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 . It was a great RPG that appealed to just about every hardcore fan of the genre, so we're hoping for more goodness from Persona 4 . We don't have too many details at this time, but we do know this entry will include a whole new weather system. …now, if you're not familiar with the concept, this may seem trivial, but trust us, it's not. It's just one of those very unique concepts that make Persona what it is, and that's a big bonus for those of us who yearn for a bit of originality.

We don't know if Atlus USA will deliver Persona 4 to the US, but while it's not a foregone conclusion, it seems very likely. Games like this are certainly more successful in Japan, but SMT:P3 did quite well in North America, so it would be in the publisher's best interests. If they do confirm the game for this region, we'll let ya know ASAP. Another top-notch RPG for the PS2!

I think its very likely that Atlus will bring this over. Considering they are a very niche publisher, its probably better for them to bring over a PS2 game. Not only that, but they are even bringing over Persona 4: FES which is very impressive.

Now I just hope that Atlus brings over more RPGs, especially Yggdra-Union Voice Version for the PSP.

Anyways, Good Job Atlus, and I hope it turns out to be a good financial gain for you.

(Now if only Square-Enix can get to work on importing their RPGs like Star Ocean over…)
