Two RPGs for the Week

Too bad they'll probably be hard to find, limited quantities and all.

Atlus' Metal Saga is an RPG set in a post-apocalyptic future (imagine that!) where war machines have replaced cars and dogs with rocket launchers strapped to their backs have replaced…well, dogs without rocket launchers strapped to their backs. The game features over 40 hours of gameplay and the usage of various vehicles of war in order to dispatch your foes. Customization is the theme of the day as you can change the look or parts of your rig, even creating completely new ones through item synthesis. Despite its ovetones and focus on combat, Metal Saga still has plenty of oddball humor to go along with its motley cast of characters. You can grab some screenshots here .

Atelier Iris 2: Azoth of Destiny, released by NIS America, is a sequel to last year's Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana. Featuring an improved Action Cost battle system and item synthesis, the game seems to be a few notches higher than its critically-maligned predecessor. Screens are right here .
