Frank-ProvoSony Computer Entertainment Europe announced today that Getaway 2: Black Monday, the upcoming sequel to 2003's Getaway, has had its US release date pushed back until 2005.
No explanation why, but three guesses says Sony already had too much on tap for the holiday shopping season and decided to save something for Q1 2005. Ubisoft released two critically acclaimed titles last year–Beyond Good and Evil, and Prince of Persia: Sands of Time–and both flopped at retail. Holiday time is no longer a sure bet for good games these days.
There is a silver lining to the SCEE announcement for UK gamers. Getaway 2 will come out on schedule there in late November.
