The Nihon Keizai Shimbun, one of Japan's most respected business papers, is reporting that Sony plans to install PlayStation 2 game console chips in flat-panel TVs due for release later this year.
But, Sony isn't saying that the chips will allow the sets to play video games. In fact, the company line is that the chips' intended use is to improve the image-processing capacity of the TVs–leading to faster on-screen controls and sharper video.
