Several Danganronpa Games To Be Pulled From PSN

Danganronpa

Several Danganronpa games are getting the boot from PSN. Announced via a blog post, NIS America shared a list of games that will be coming off PlayStation’s service in the coming months.

Most of the games listed will be unavailable in September. The only exception is Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girl (you can read our review here), which will be pulled off the market on the last day of August.

Danganronpa

NIS America isn’t clear what they plan on doing, most of the affected Danganronpa games are Vita titles, so it wouldn’t be too surprising if they’re leaving them to rot alongside the Vita. At the same time, murmurs are surfacing that they will be rereleased by Spike Chunsoft. This would certainly make sense, considering Killing Harmony only launched back in 2017, and yet they’re already putting down the PS4 version after less than five years.

After the associated date, the games will be unpurchasable. Those who bought them beforehand will still be able to redownload them.

PSX Extreme has reached out to Spike Chunsoft for comment.

“Nights of Azure” out now in North America, on Friday in Europe

“Nights of Azure” is out now in North America with a standard edition from KOEI TECMO available through retailers such as Amazon.

NIS America has produced an elaborate special Limited Edition pack including the game, sound track, art book, art cards and a large poster of character art.

The game takes place in the “Land Without Night”, a region where the people do not sleep. A great evil force, the Nightlord, has been defeated. But in his defeat, the Nightlord unleashed an evil blight across the land, and now fiends transformed by that blight, steal people away during the night as they sleep.

Players follow the story of two beloved friends working together to seal away the last of the Nightlord’s influence. Lead characters Arnise, a holy knight who fights to defend the people of the land without night; and Lilysse a saint, and it's her destiny to seal the Nightlord away. To accomplish this, Lilysse must sacrifice herself. Which might be a problem because she also happens to be Arnise’s girlfriend. So now Arnise has no choice but to fight to protect her love as she fulfills her destiny.

This is Gust’s first PlayStation 4 Game. Nights of Azure takes a much darker tone than Gust’s previous games marking a departure from their previous titles, the Atelier series of games and the Ar Tonelico games on PlayStation. It’s nice to see them bringing their unique talents to the PlayStation 4, look out for more from Gust this summer with a new Atelier game on PS4.

So, will you help Arnise and Lilysse defeat the Nightlord? Will you follow their love story to the end?

Japanese Spotlight: Nights of Azure

Not sure about whatever it is Final Fantasy XV is offering as an action JRPG? Here's something that might be more up your alley.

Nights of Azure is coming to PS4 here in the US at the end of March when the gaming season post-holidays is picking up.

From Tecmo-Koei we have the director of Fatal Frame and Deception IV, GUST studios of Atelier fame putting together a very Japanese adventure for those who have been starved. It is a darker story, one of two female heorines facing decisions that will test their missions and loyalties to one another.

The story takes place on an island where night is not a time to be abroad. The island is infested with azure blood demons. In Ruswal not many dare to venture out except the brave. One, Arnice, is a knight of great skill assisted by priestess Lilysee in their fight against the demon horde. As with all epic stories though, things won't be as simple as beating back the physical demons.

Look for giant weapons, a battle system instead of a button masher, hot girls, and high drama.

NIS America Confirms Three More Titles For JRPG Lovers

NIS America continues to faithfully serve the JRPG followers.

The publisher has announced three new games for North America and Europe, and all three should appeal to the aforementioned niche crowd.

It starts with The Firefly Diary , which will land on the PlayStation Vita this fall. Then comes the Guided Fate Paradox sequel that launches in Japan later this month (it'll release in the US and Europe in 2015), and another Vita RPG called Criminal Girls: Invite Only .

The Firefly Diary will take advantage of the Vita's touch capabilities. You will control a pair of fairies with the goal of guiding a young girl through dangerous ruins. One of the fairies is based in the light world while the other is in the shadow world, and you switch between them to solve puzzles. The light fairy is controlled by the front touchscreen and the shadow fairy is controlled by the rear touchscreen…not sure how intuitive that'll be, but it's interesting nonetheless.

The Guided Fate Paradox sequel, strangely entitled The Awakened Force Ultimatum , will be on PS3 and Criminal Girls: Invite only is a revamped Vita version of the 2010 PSP RPG, simply called Criminal Girls . The latter game is about seven delinquents damned to hell, and you have to lead them to redemption…and yeah, there's some NSFW stuff included. Well, what did you expect?
