Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare , a third-person shooter that debuted on Xbox platforms, is now confirmed for the PlayStation brand; it’s coming to the PS3 and PS4 on August 19, 2014. The game is just plain loopy from top to bottom but then again, where else can you find plants fighting zombies? And what about those crazy weapons?
“Fun” is the name of the game, as the latest PvZ entry is colorful and fast-paced. This is a definite change from the franchise’s more strategic roots, but it’s bound to appeal to a wider demographic. The good news is that the PS4 iteration will be the absolute best version of the game available: In addition to beautiful 1080p high-def resolution and silky smooth 60 frames per second, the PS4 entry will also include two pieces of DLC on day one. Fans will get the Garden Variety and Zomboss Down DLC packs right from the get-go, and that’s always a bonus!
The game will also feature Remote Play for the PlayStation Vita, so you can enjoy your plant- and zombie-blastin’ on the go. They’re even tossing in the popular Boss Mode, as it’ll be playable as a companion experience on mobile devices via the PlayStation App (Boss Mode was previously exclusive to the Xbox One version). Oh, and let’s not forget that Garden Warfare will give players the option of split-screen co-op, a feature that appears to be dying out, but really shouldn’t . As for the gameplay, check out the video below; it’s pretty straightforward but as those who have played it will tell you, there’s more depth than you might imagine.
You can side with the plants or the zombies in multiplayer team vs. team combat, and you can sample three competitive modes, along with the four-player co-op mode (online) and the aforementioned split-screen action. This game is no slouch, either, as it’s running the Frostbite 3 engine, which is the same tech that powers big-budget AAA titles like Battlefield 4 and Need for Speed: Rivals . I’m hoping PlayStation fans enjoy the game as much as Xbox followers seem to; the developer has said Garden Warfare players on Xbox platforms have hit 400 million kills since the game’s launch in February.
If you’re up for it, you should consider pre-ordering. Doing so will grant you two game-boosting digital card packs, as well as PlayStation character-specific customization items for both plants and zombies. This includes cosmetic upgrades inspired by popular PlayStation franchises such as Ratchet & Clank and Sly Cooper . Me, I’m not big on simple aesthetic additions but hey, they can make the experience that much more colorful (and even somewhat nostalgic). Combining the extra technical proficiency and the immediately available DLC content, we have to assume that playing Garden Warfare on the PS4 makes the most sense.
And besides, did I mention that it’s plants fighting zombies? The concept alone makes it worth a peek.

cant wait for this game. change things up just a tad with fps. so sick of cod now, only looking forward to this and destiny for 2014 (im sure im missing a game or 2 for 2014 but those 2 are top of my head)
