Ben-DutkaTransformers has becoming an enduring video game franchise. For the most part, these are highly entertaining titles, and are perfectly geared toward the avid fanbase. The latest, Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark , will launch for all major platforms in June, and Autobots boss man Optimus Prime has a profound message for you:
“For every force in the universe, there is an equal and an opposite. For every hero, a villain. And for every victory, defeat.”
Okay, so it’s not quite that profound. Nothing about Transformers is profound, but that doesn’t mean it lacks appeal. The popular series has enjoyed quite the rebirth over the past decade or so, and both film-lovers and gamers have received quite a few quality installments. I still remember being surprised at the sky-high fun factor in previous entries from High Moon Studios; Transformers: War for Cybertron was one of the first that really hooked me. Now, Rise of the Dark Spark will offer more of that great third-person action entertainment, and players can once again choose between the Autobots and the Decepticons.
Interestingly, the debut video revealed three different versions of Optimus Prime, although we don’t have specific details. Maybe you unlock varying incarnations of the Autobots leader as the adventure advances…? Anyway, as for the story, you’re on the hunt for an ancient relic as powerful as the Matrix of Leadership. This mysterious and potentially deadly relic is called the Dark Spark, and whoever ends up with it will enjoy extreme power. The story is never a focal point in these games, but at least we know we’ll be exploring numerous sci-fi environments. Technically, this plot is a follow-up story to the upcoming “Transformers: Age of Extinction.”
Developer Edge of Reality will also implement several online multiplayer modes, including the fan-favorite Escalation, during which four players fend off waves of increasingly difficult enemies. You can take advantage of new defense and leveling systems as you progress, and the key is survival. All told, the game will boast over 40 playable characters and for added depth, players will earn experience points in both the single-player campaign and multiplayer. That’s more incentive to go online with your buddies, isn’t it? We expect the campaign to be relatively long, as previous single-player experiences were often in excess of 15 hours.
If you’ve got a 3DS, you should also know that WayForward is prepping a portable version of Rise of the Dark Spark , but it’ll be a strategy/RPG. As for the main console versions, expect them to arrive in late June.
Why can't WayForward's be the main game?
I hope that footage was from the current-gen versions, because those backdrops were godawful. Eh, what am I complaining about, I won't be getting this.
Me wants the strategy rpg for PS4. 🙂
is it just me or are the graphics a bit ancient like ealry ps3/360 era i'd like them to put a but more effort into that if that isn't too much to ask from them.
