Although April is shaping up to be a slow month, we're definitely looking forward to June. There are several promising titles slated for the sixth month of the year – including Volition's Red Faction: Guerilla and Sucker Punch's Infamous – and now, another one is on the list.
Evidently, according to Digital Something, it's Prototype , a title that got stuck on the back burner for a while but finally has emerged with a concrete release date. It's slated to launch in Europe on June 5 and in North America on June 9, and if you're unfamiliar with the concept, you can always check out our early preview through that link. We've also compiled several videos over the past year or so, so make sure to check out the PS3 Videos section of the site. If you've already done so, you can easily spot this game's potential, and hopefully, Radical Entertainment's intense action extravaganza will be well worth the wait. We don't know about you, but we love the idea of playing as a nigh-on immune protagonist with all sorts of freakishly powerful abilities. Too many main characters these days are reluctant anti-heroes of some sort (with certain exceptions, like Dante from Devil May Cry ) and they're both cliched and tired. In Prototype , you are going to tear everything up, and that's that. Provided the developers don't skimp on the details and provide us with a solid gameplay mechanic, we can't wait to try it.
The only problem is that it sounds like it'll go head-to-head with Infamous , and the two games seem remarkably similar. If one is better than the other, than the sales of the loser may be terrible… But you never know; both might rock the house.
Related Game(s): Prototype
oh this is definately going up against infamous. i get the two confused so much.
can't wait to see which is best, because they look quite good and have gathered some hype.
well i'll be getting Infamous so thats -1 for this game lol
Infamous is a sure thing but prototype not sure as of yet.
Ill rent this and buy Infamous, Infamous looks so much better.
Infamous = Electrify stuff
Prototype = Blow sh*t up
I'm sold on both…

I hope they will at least release inFamous a week or so later than this game. I can't believe after the delay, it is coming out this June of all times.
Anyway, I'll be pre-ordering inFamous and hoping this is worth picking up later in the summer.
And isn't the new Batman game coming out in June too? Going to be a busy summer.
yep batman is june 9th. Infamous is set for July 1st.
i already got Infamous on pre-order and Batman will be going on pre-order too. Probally will get the CE for Batman.
…Infamous better than Prototype? erm yeh… I trust you have seen the ten reasons to buy Prototype vid?
if not.. forums are that way >>>
i have, and infamous looks better. i mean, the combos on infamous are insane but on prototype they look really short and rubbish
Random_Steve's right.
Yes I have and it turn me off, I don't like superman type games where you just do what you want and no one can't stop you, it gets super old fast.
Prototype looks pretty fun from the trailers but im gonna go with Infamous the red electricity hooked me i might get this afterwards though
I dunno guys…this game could really give Infamous some comp. I have NO doubt in my mind that the story in Infamous will be way better, but to tell y'all the truth, the stuff that goes on in Prototype looks way more exciting.
Infamous!!!

I almost forgot about this game!! Im definitely grabbing this. I'll have somebody buy Infamous for me..I thought that Batman came out in July? yea this summer is going to be very hectic
Infamous looks like it will be less gory than Prototype. That's a plus point for me.
Prototype looks like more of a sandbox game – kind of destroy everything in sight and then do it again. Infamous appears from the information I have read to be more story driven, plus your powers change based on your decisions, you can be good or bad, and it changes you. Nice.

Infamous is supposed to be sandboxy too.
Well, I'm going to get inFamous on Day One and if Prototype is very good, I'll buy it later. BTW, another good game coming out in June is Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2010. Smart move by EA to release it in another month other than August so it doesn't get overshadowed by Madden. Also, new Batman and Ghostbusters games.
Im getting both. Prototype looks better tho.
I bet that infamous will get about a 75% aggregate score and will be one the lesser exclusives. (Just my prediction)
I'm going to bet it will average an 85. I think the mechanics will be great, but it just wont appeal to everyone. So, I foresee some 100's and some 70's.
Day one purchased PERIOD, this game is something ive been looking for, I mean the videos are just plain out sick man. Its like GTA gone wilder
Infamous automatic first day and I'll wait for prototype reviews to decide.
LOL…. it looks like Infamous is winning the battle on here 😛
im sold on both and i want both to compare. to be honest im really excited about infamous and how it seems to play but just watching the prototype videos it looks like a good competitor.
Although i probably wont by both i will be buying infamous for sure and ill def. be watching prototype to see how it turns out.

prototype sounds boring I'm sold on infamous
Yes, but would you buy a game called Infamous Prototype?
Are you listening developers, I got pure gold here!

Well, my birthday is in July so I'll be getting whichever one sounds better in the reviews here at PSXE. The loser gets a rental 🙂
I'm sorry but that top ten reasons to get prototype was straight booty juice. It looks fanmade and poorly at that. I was getting both day one but after seeing it in action, it seems kinda shallow. And i truly hope the graphics in the vid i saw are the results of poor video capturing. If not, color me unimpressed.
The openwolrd/sandbox of prototype reminds me of Spiderman 2 openworldness, its so big yet it looked (and played) so boring. The physics also looked horrid in the tp ten reasons video.
Ah crap, now im sounding like ultimadream ( just kidding man, don't kill me )

Yeah, I still kind of want Prototype, but that video made me want it less for sure.
Hah ultimadream =D
But I remember loving Spiderman 2, I thought it was one of the most fun open Superhero movie games.
Infamous may not sell enough to impress the competition but im looking forward to it. Its like a superhero game without the need to copy the movie that it came out with, which makes the game predictable and lame. This looks fun and new.
and without the spandex.
I have high hopes for this game. I loved Hulk Ultimate Destruction on ps2.
I'll play [Prototype] just to see how the "web of intrigue" plays out. I'll buy it if it's fun though.
I am a big fan of the Sly series so I've got faith that Infamous would blow me away..
Prototype has always been sorta interesting. I'm loving the over the top action/gore.. Story seems very 2D..Will sit on it for a month and too and see what the verdict is
most people who own an xbox over a PS3 will get prototype whichwill mean prototype willl sell more
Not necessary Steve. An average multiplatform game will sell more than an average ps3 game..
If infamous delivers and becomes a groundbreaking ps3 exclusive (like MGS4), it will sell more than Prototype
spose and btw, im not actually called steve lol
Hm, you know at first I thought I'd prefer InFamous over this, but the karma system seems pretty annoying to me, I've never liked being fully good or evil and loosing powers for taking diferent choices just plain annoys me.
