Later last year, Sony agreed to a settlement over a PlayStation Vita lawsuit and now, customers can cash in.
As a result of the lawsuit brought forth by the Federal Trade Commission concerning the technical capabilities of the gaming portable, gamers who purchased the Vita before June 1, 2012 are eligible for some compensation.
According to this letter sent to customers, you will receive:
The FTC says Sony claimed the Vita would "revolutionize gaming mobility" by letting us play our PS3 titles on the Vita via Remote Play. However, the FTC believe this was a misleading advertising ploy. Now, Sony may have agreed to this settlement, but the company "neither admits nor denies liability in connection with this matter."
Oh, and bear in mind that by accepting this settlement, you waive your right to any future settlement.
I honestly don't know where I stand on this matter. I do know it's something that I wouldn't even bother with, but I also know that can mean a big deal to others. This is getting too often though. Sony needs to learn and be more careful with this stuff.
Content with my Vita, but hey free stuff. Probably will just go with the $25 in PS Store credit.
free stuff is free stuff indeed
Also content with my Vita. Went for the $25 check since I haven't been having the time for video games as much, so I'm just playing what I have right now.
Why only usa! Australia always gets shafted 🙁
same as NZ then i guess as well
This article implies that you will receive $25 in cash, $25 in store credit and a game bundle. That is not at all what the letter says. You are eligible for one of the three of your choosing, not all three.
i'm happy with my vita but yeah i got mine end of 2013 so i'm out anyway and it sounds like peps in NZ will still out of luck anyway
happy gaming
