What the heck is a platform/survival game?

Well, we're going to find out next month. As announced over at the PlayStation Blog , a free-to-play "mini-adventure" called Run Sackboy! Run! is coming to the PlayStation Vita and mobile devices in October.

In development at Sony XDev Europe, the game uses "simple tap and swipe gestures" as players will guide the iconic LittleBigPlanet mascot through recognizable worlds. The Gardens, The Canyons and Avalonia have all been part of the LBP franchise in the past and now, Sackboy is trying to escape the Negativitron, a "big nasty vacuum cleaner that sucks up all creativity." It's terrorizing Craftworld and it's after Sackboy! Run, Sackboy, run!

Collecting bubbles unlocks special costumes and upgrades, and each costume boasts built-in multipliers. You can challenge your friends using the game's social feature and scoreboards, and don't forget about all those cool power-ups! There's the Jet Pack, Shield, Magnet, and the Glider. And of course, it wouldn't be Sackboy without some stickers to collect; you can add any you find to your in-game Sticker Book. Get a solid collection and unlock even more special bonuses.

Sounds like fun, even if it is F2P.

Mmm… Nope. If it's on mobile devises I just can't bring myself to take it seriously. The Vita is so much better than that.

Based on the title I think a platform/survival game is like the Runner games. I've played some Runner 2 (was PSN+ free for a time) and it's pretty fun.
