Killzone: Mercenary Launch Trailer: Pretty Combat = No Oxymoron

Combat can't be pretty. Then again, maybe it can.

Killzone: Mercenary is now available for the PlayStation Vita and as such, the launch trailer is making the Internet rounds. It gives us a great look at how the talented developers took advantage of the PlayStation Vita's significant capabilities.

One of the most anticipated titles of the year for Sony's portable, Mercenary features high-gloss handheld detail and immersive, engaging environments. Those are on full display in this attractive video, which reminds us all of the Vita's prodigious potential. Granted, this trailer shows more graphical achievement than gameplay, but maybe you were already part of the multiplayer beta. If not, you can always check out our hands-on impressions . It's fun, stable and impressive!

So, will you be adding Killzone: Mercenary to your Vita's library?

Been playing this for the last week, awesome game. The low scores are unjustified as they seem to forget this is a handheld console. An amazing game imo.

This. Game is realy good. The framerate sometimes suffers in intense shootouts but nothing gamebreaking. As with ps3, the potential of this hanheld hasnt been discoverd yet fully and I am looking forward for some really good titles

Was going to buy this day 1 and sure enough the store didn't have it. Might go give it a second try later on today. Any review from PSX coming?

Yes. Picked it up on launch. I didn't play the beta, so everything was fresh and new. Loving the game so far.

All the bad reviews out there…They are comparing Killzone: Mercenary to PS3 FPS and complain about lack of innovation. "typical run of the mill FPS…". It's the best FPS you can play on the go on ANY platform! That itself warrants a 8/10. The bad reviewers are nit-picking IMO. This game is solid and well worth the price of the Vita. This with Uncharted, MGS HD, and upcoming titles Batman and Borderlands 2 will likely be more than enough for gaming on the go.

Graphics = 9.5/10
Gameplay = 9/10
Presentation = 10/10
Story = 7.5/10
FUN FACTOR = 9/10

Overall = 9/10

if Sony didn't go and boast the Vita as a PS3 in your hands, going as far as paying Kojima to say it, perhaps some would have a different expectation. I always thought it was a mistake for Sony to market the Vita at the PS3's level. Not so much because of hardware shortcomings as it is dollars invested. The handheld market, as it is now, must be more conservative with development costs in order to turn a profit.

Very very good shooter. Phenomenal for a handheld. They do forget that something of this quality on any handheld in history is unprecedented.

And then there's the fact that the game is actually quick easy fun!
