Last year, Assassin's Creed III: Liberation was the Vita spin-off directly related to Assassin's Creed III on consoles.

This year, the esteemed Batman franchise is taking a similar route. Batman: Arkham Origins will launch for current-gen systems in late October, while Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate will also be available on Sony's portable and the Nintendo 3DS. Gotta get both!

Something has gone terribly wrong at Blackgate Prison, where the inmates now hold sway. Multiple nasty convicts have escaped and as this new trailer says, most of 'em nurse a heavy grudge against the Caped Crusader. The game boasts stealth gameplay, that free-flowing combat fans of the series adore, and plenty of cool Batman gadgets. Featuring slick 2.5D graphics and a fully voiced narrative, this is a game that should make Vita owners smile.

Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate will be available on the Vita and 3DS on October 25. Fittingly, that's the same day Arkham Origins hits the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC.

Can't wait. Especially since it is being made by some of the creators of the sidescrolling metroid games.

I'd forgotten about this game. Arkham Origins looks pretty disposable at the moment, but this looks like a fantastic opportunity for a Metroidvania starring Batman. Will definitely get this for Vita.
