Sega Prepping Samurai & Dragons For PlayStation Vita

Oh man, ActRaiser . That brings back some memories.

If you don't remember or simply weren't old enough, ActRaiser was a great concept back in the SNES days: you could both build civilizations and play through a 2D side-scrolling, demon-vanquishing adventure.

Well, according to Famitsu and as cited by GameSpot , Sega is taking another crack at the hybrid idea with a new title for the PlayStation Vita: Samurai & Dragons . Like ActRaiser , it will have both action and strategy elements; the action involves fighting through dungeons and slaying classic monsters (with up to four players), while the strategy part requires that players build a city and train a monster army.

In terms of multiplayer, it's obvious that you're going to need a big army to attack other players. But you can also form alliances to bolster your position, and there's always more monsters that need conquering in the action-oriented sections. Interestingly enough, Jet Set Radio Future director and Yakuza producer Masayoshi Kikuchi is a producer for Samurai & Dragons . So in other words, the guy has experience.

Lastly, why the Vita? Well, Sega says they wanted to take advantage of the portable's online connectivity and touchscreen functionality. As of yet, there is no release date for the game.
