Marvelous USA Brings Ragnorak Odyssey Ace To North America

Ooh, sounds like a definite must-play for JRPG fans!

Marvelous USA (you may remember them as XSEED) has announced that it has obtained the rights to publish Ragnorak Odyssey Ace in North America. Publisher GungHo will handle distribution for Europe.

This is an updated and expanded version of last year's Vita release, and it features multiple gameplay additions along with all the available downloadable content. Furthermore, the title will support cross-platform play, which means PS3 and Vita players can team up and go a-questing together. As for the future at Marvelous USA, the boss man had something to say; here's President and CEO Shinichi Suzuki:

"This is a particularly special E3 for everyone here at Marvelous USA. For the first time we will exhibit the newly combined XSEED and Marvelous brands together under Marvelous USA, and it is the most exciting year we’ve ever had due to our great lineup of console, PC online and mobile games."

Ragnorak Odyssey Ace will release this winter in North America and Europe. Marvelous intends to show off the Vita iteration at E3.

I tried really hard to like Ragnarok Odyssey on my Vita, but after making it to the 4th chapter the game had lost all semblance of fun, and felt more like a chore to me. So it is perma-shelved.

The worst thing about the game is that it's just horribly unbalanced. Some of the character types are hopelessly useless, and the difficulty level turns on a dime from mind numbingly easy to frustratingly difficult.

The game is also very repetitive, but I wouldn't mind that if it weren't for the other issues killing it's fun factor.

If you're really hard up for a JRPG-like game for your Vita, give it a try. But if you're looking for gold, this isn't it…

I agree gumbi. It got very boring and repetitive. The umbalanced level difficutly is frustrating and a HUGE reason I stopped playing. One level is too easy and the next it seems like it goes up 20 levels.

That's a shame.
