Ben-DutkaPlayStation Vita sales have been slower than expected since its launch. But maybe that just means there are a whole lot of consumers just waiting in the wings to pick one up…
A recent Famitsu questionnaire has demonstrated that in fact, there might be plenty of future Vita purchasers.
In terms of devices they were most looking to buy in 2013, Sony's portable topped the list at 64%. It actually outstripped the second place unit, the Nintendo 3DS, by a hefty margin; the latter came in at 48%, while the Wii U was third with 34%. Of course, it's important to recognize just how few people in Japan own the Vita as opposed to the 3DS, so of course there would be more individuals interested in picking up the Vita, right? But then again, if they just weren't intrigued at all, they wouldn't have voted, so that's a good sign.

Sony simply MUST have a major press conference to announce upcoming games, promotions, services, and hopefully a price drop, and soon. They can do this — the system is simply awesome, there's a very nice collection of games out now (you can get nearly all of them as part of PS Plus Subscription, too!)now convince everyone who's waffling on the system that awesome, exclusive content is on the way and won't stop coming any time soon. Fingers crossed for this one — I'd hate to see such a fantastic system die out too soon.
Games, and a price drop. 1 year into the life is long enough to drop the price a bit – especially of the memory cards.
Clearly there is some kind of disconnect between desire and actual sales. Usually if people want something bad enough they tend to go out and buy it. That's not happening with the Vita…even in Japan. Looks like Japanese gamers are waiting.
Price I'd say. Not that it's too high, people just know a drop has to come eventually.

I have a Vita and its awesome. The only issues is that its lacks the amount of games to choose from and with the firmware that restricts it to only one psn account is a disappointment since i want to get breath of fire 4 on my Vita but can't 🙁
If they can't drop the price on the unit at least drop the price on the memory card. Sony could release new bundles that have the 8gb memory card with it and the price of the bundled memory card would be half of its srp. That should invigorate sales.
For me the price drop on the unit isn't as important as the cards, The storage is just too expansive for the amount of space you get, added to the fact you're drastically limited to one account. The vita isn't a small, simple handheld just for one person/kid, it should have multiple accounts/profiles if you like.
I'm enjoying my Vita but there have been quite a lot of disappointments. Like seeing articles of people with hacked ps3's playing full disc games via remote play fine. I do have faith Sony will turn the ship around though. It's early days in my eyes.

really cant believe $ony still does not have a true JRPG announced for it!
ok theres soul sacrifice, but that really does not look like a JRPG at all!
just release a new monster hunter game and this will fly off the shelves faster than they can restock them!
