Rainbow Moon is one of the best downloadable games of the year, and that goes triple if you're an old-school RPG fan.
Such a game lends itself well to the portable world, so it's great to ear that Eastasiasoft plans to bring the colorful and addictive mix of role-playing and strategy to the PlayStation Vita.
The Hong Kong developer announced today that Rainbow Moon is headed to Sony's handheld in 2013. Unfortunately, there is no solidified release date as of yet, but it's enough to know it's coming, right? Said SideQuest Studios CEO Marcus Pukropski:
"We've been asked this question many times, so I'm very happy to finally announce that we will bring Rainbow Moon to the PS®Vita. All the feedback that we have received for Rainbow Moon during the last few months has been tremendous, and I hope that today's announcement will make a lot of PS®Vita owners and Rainbow Moon fans happy."
Rainbow Moon is just one of those games that's extremely difficult to stop playing. It's not so much the story, but that irrepressible urge to get stronger, explore more places, and gather more loot, all amid a classic setting. So freakin' grand , I say.

This is awesome news, the game is perfect for the Vita. I hope they give a discount to those that already bought the PS3 version.
I was really hoping they'd make it compatible with remote play but I guess that's not gonna happen now 🙁
P.S. Ben: Sorry for being Mr. annoying guy about this on that other article, I should've known you were on it…

I wonder how the sales are.
Dunno. But I bought it.
Think they've been pretty solid at least. This is from IGN:
"Unfortunately, EastAsiaSoft wasn't able to provide exact sales numbers for Rainbow Moon on PS3 that may have also influenced the port, though Ngai notes that they 'are happy with how Rainbow Moon is performing on the PlayStation Network.' It was the second best-selling game on PSN in July."

I bought it too, turned out to not really grab me but ya still hope these types of games sell well.
How long did you give it? The one glaring flaw for me is how long it takes for the combat and other aspects of the game to kick in and actually get interesting. When you start getting other characters and powers it gets much more engaging (not to mention a greater variety of enemy types) . This is why I find the demo for this game might actually cause more to be turned off than turned on…
Once you get past the doldrums of the early going, this game really shines IMHO

I haven't touched it much after purchase either, tbh. After I got the girl with the bow and arrow, I played a little longer and haven't gone back yet.
I got mired in the early stages and realized I'd have more fun just doing some retro gaming.
This is exactly what I was hoping for when I heard about the PS3 version. Will be picking this up for sure.
I'm liking the way this sounds. It's three games. ACIII, KZ:M for sure on the vita, but what is the third purchase going to be. At first it was Gravity Rush, then Alundra and now this is in the running. More time and money sure would be nice right about now.
HIGHLY recommend Gravity Rush.
I couldn't pull myself away from that game until I got the platinum and I don't care about trophies. If you are choosing btwn RM and GR, I'd go GR (but rainbow moon is much cheaper so maybe you don't have to choose).
Now on to Uncharted GA…
Golden Abyss looks plenty swell. But UC3 is still enough to entertain me. If I get Gravity Rush I'll have two somewhat open world games on the vita.
Gravity rush has been highlight for me for this year. Not even just on the vita.
My next question is can I buy it for ps3 and vita as one purchase or do you have to buy them separately? I hate to buy the same game twice so I hope one buy works for both.
