Ben-DutkaEven before Watch Dogs hit store shelves, Ubisoft asked gamers who they wanted to see play Aiden Pearce in the big-screen adaptation.
The publisher offered up a pretty impressive list of choices, with huge names like Brad Pitt, Edward Norton, Tom Cruise, Robert Downey, Jr., Clive Owen and Tobey Maguire. Now, with the voting closed, Ubisoft has got their fan pick , and it isn't surprising.
It's Tom Cruise, who has been in more movies than we can count. The "Mission Impossible" series is probably his most recognizable, but then going back, there's "Top Gun," "Days of Thunder," "Risky Business," "Rain Man," "The Color of Money," etc, etc, etc. And with 37% of the online poll, he might just be on tap to play the protagonist in the "Watch Dogs" film. Downey Jr. got 20% of the vote, Norton came in at 19%, and Paul Walker ("The Fast and the Furious") was third with 11%. I still say it should've been either Norton or Owen but whatever.
Cruise might be too old for this role, and it's too bad he's nuts. Has the Scientology church found him a new wife yet…?

So does this mean he'll actually be the lead for the movie? I'm not sure how often movies are made where fans choose who the lead role is.

But in all seriousness, hes actually an OK actor, maybe not someone for this. But lately some of his have been pretty good to watch like MI:4, Jack Reacher and Oblivion.
I'm sure with the right director and writers it could work out.
I don't believe it. I simply don't believe Tom Cruise was the highest voted. Completely refuse to accept this. No way, this vote was rigged by one party or another.

I mean, sure, he's a decent actor. He is. But man, whenever I see him nowadays, I only see a psycho. I see nothing else. I never see the character he is portraying. He, as an actor, is destroyed as far as I am concerned.

Tom cruise needs to retire or do something else, not that he's a bad actor but he's way to recognisable as Tom cruise and its ruins every movie he's in IMO.
Its actually a good fit. And I usually dont say this about Tom Cruise because I dont like him much. But since Jack Reacher (and all his wide variety of films) Ive realised he has a lot of talent. I could see it working well.
But I dont see this as a Downey Jr. or Edward Norton character. And honestly Norton is an arrogant prick. The way he dealt with The Hulk/Avengers ordeal was lame. Although it has nothing to do with this, it says a lot about him and Ive lost respect. Unfortunately the refound fame of Downey Jr. Is doing the same to him.
I think he fits the role. He's can show so much emotion just with his eyes just like in Minority Report when he's doing some computer sutff with his hands. I can see him doing the hacking stuff with his cellphone just like that in Watch Dogs.
i vote for leo dicaprio, he has gained alot of respect from me as an actor. this would be a different role than his others but he could pull it off with an excellent director.
my second vote is danny devito.
Please, no… Out of the list I would only pick Norton or Owen. I don't think they are great options, but they are the best of those listed.

All kidding aside tho. I'd prefer Cruise, then Owen then Norton. But most of all i prefer to be playing the actual game We barely know anything about the character yet!!

toms top half of face does look exactly like watch dogs aiden in that certain face close up pic
i personally think tom cruise, paul walker or downey jr. wud be okay.
when it comes to car cases paul wud be the best.
