Another enticing title for JRPG aficionados!
As announced over at the PlayStation Blog , Tri-Ace's 2D dungeon-crawler Exist Archive: The Other Side of the Sky will launch in North America on October 18 for PlayStation 4 and Vita.
It'll be distributed by Aksys Games and it could be a big-time winner for fans of the niche genre. You play in a side-scrolling view and combat might remind you a little of Tri-Ace's other major JRPG franchise, Valkyrie Profile . During battle in Exist Archive , each face button executes a different attack and you have to master the combo system. For a great look at the gameplay, check the video below.
Great news, especially as that new Valkyrie Profile announced earlier this month did indeed turn out to be a mobile title. 🙁

Company making a game people would die for and they make it for mobile instead of consoles is disgusting …

Yeah out of all things. Could've been 3DS, but mobile.
I will buy this and enjoy it just solely due to the fact that it's a side scrolling JRPG, from Japan. I mean cmon, what?
+ but actually because the music is nice, art is interesting and classic Tri-Ace.
Looks like Valkyrie Profile
Lots of JRPG coming this year and next.
Ratchet and Clank top the game charts in the UK.
All we need now is for Polyphony to get off it's butt and give us GT7, and we'll be reliving the PS2 golden years.
I really like the battle system, but the environments look realy drab… can't say I am fond of the chibi characters either. but I do appreciate Tri-Ace & I am still considering it.
Aw, but Chibi's rule. Not to mention that your avatar is more or less a Chibi too… 😉
They do and Highlander is right, Vivi is a super-deformed character which is just a branch up the tree of Chibi.

Nah + The major Adventage to Vivi being okay is – He is not Human! But even the characters in IX while not being 100% realistic, dont look as cutesy-wootsy as this.
I loved Valkyrie profile 2 and this looks like some of that goodness.
JRPGs in the traditional sense seem to be making a bit of a comeback 🙂
I like those over the top special move sequences. This is what a turn based system brings and why I love it. I like the old battle arena style and cool anime characters.
