The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Adds To Its Game Of The Year Total

Another Game of the Year award for one of the most impressive titles of the generation thus far.

Last week, CD Projekt Red's epic action/RPG The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt won the overall Game of the Year honor at the 2016 Game Developers Conference.

Now, the game has done it again, this time taking top honors at the third annual SXSW Gaming Awards. The Witcher 3 also took home hardware for Excellence in Technical Achievement and Excellence in Narrative, and as SXSW Gaming Producer Justin Burnham said in a statement (via GameSpot ):

"CD Projekt Red created something tremendously special with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and that's why it's our Video Game of the Year. The characters are rich, the gameplay is fantastic and the intricate story makes it a pleasure to get lost in the world. It's a prime example of a game that pushes the limits of what digital entertainment can accomplish."

Other multiple award-winners were Bloodborne (Excellence in Art, Excellence in Design), Undertale (Most Fulfilling Crowdfunded Game, Matthew Crump Cultural Innovation Award), and Rise of the Tomb Raider (Excellence in Animation, Most Enduring Character). The widely acclaimed Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain received the Excellence in Gameplay award, the popular Star Wars: Battlefront took home Excellence in SFX, and one of our favorites, The Order: 1886 rightfully earned the Excellence in Visual Achievement award. Oh, and of course, the totally awesome Rocket League won Excellence in Multiplayer.

Recently, we learned The Witcher 3 had shipped 10 million units worldwide, which means gamers everywhere still do respond to quality (thankfully).
