GDC Awards 2016 Nominees: MGSV, The Witcher 3 Are Tops

It's almost time to hand out more prestigious awards.

The nominations for the 2016 Game Developers Choice Awards have been released, and leading the charge are the likes of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain ; both stellar titles received four nominations each.

Both were nominated for overall Game of the Year and joining that list is Fallout 4 , Bloodborne and the surprising Rocket League . Other games that received multiple nods are the popular shooter Star Wars: Battlefront (Best Visual Art, Best Technology, Best Audio), Bloodborne (Best Design and Best Visual Art, in addition to the GotY nomination), Fallout 4 (Best Design, Best Technology, and GotY) and Splatoon (Innovation Award, Best Visual Art). You can see the full list of nominees here .

Any game released publicly in 2015 was eligible for consideration, and the nominees and winners are decided by the invite-only Game Developers Choice Awards International Choice Awards Network. The winning games will be revealed at the 2016 Game Developers Conference on March 16; the event kicks off at 6:30 p.m. PST.

In our recently posted Game of the Year Awards , The Witcher 3 and MGSV earned lots of nominations and walked away with three wins each, with CD Projekt Red's epic RPG earning overall Game of the Year. As for the other GDC GotY nominees, Fallout 4 won our Most Addictive award, while Bloodborne got Best PS4 Game and Rocket League earned Best Sports Game.
