The Last Guardian’s Story Limits Sony’s Pre-Release Hype

After lifting our spirits during E3 2015 with a triumphant return , The Last Guardian has gone dark again. It wasn't at the Tokyo Game Show in September and it didn't appear at Paris Games Week in October.

This time, however, there's a reason behind the lack of information and footage, as per PlayStation boss Shuhei Yoshida.

He tells GameSpot that Sony is purposely holding things back because the game relies so heavily on the narrative:

"Development is going well, but because it's about the story, we don't want to show too much. We wanted to show that it exists, it works, it runs. It's not like we won't show anything before launch, but I think we will try to limit what we show about the game."

When it was unveiled again at E3, we were told to expect it in 2016 and thus far, Sony hasn't gone back on that statement. And there's still a chance we'll get an update at the PlayStation Experience in one month's time. It'd be nice to see it again, despite Yoshida's reassurances…

That boy or that dog thing is going to die…..this is just a sad reality about the game and I will most likely cry while playing it.

Sorry to say but I don't believe Sony. That's a terrible excuse not to show any game play.

Yeah, it worries me a little. This sounds suspiciously similar to what Sony said before about why they didn't show off the game. The "development is going fine" comment popped up too many times in the past.

I don't know what you mean by that? I thought it looked excellent, and in no way did it look outdated. Unless you by outdated mean it's not a online multiplayer open world shooter…

Still doesn't explain why they wouldn't want to show more of a game that's supposed to release next year to try to built up hype again though…
