When it was announced that BioWare would be leaving Mass Effect protagonist Commander Shepard behind, some fans were none too pleased.
That debate still rages about the upcoming Mass Effect: Andromeda , but senior development director Chris Wynn says fans shouldn't be so grim.
When one fan said a Mass Effect without Shepard would be "embarrassing," Wynn replied on Twitter :
"I am well versed in the caparinhia, delicious. Be open minded to a Mass Effect with no Shepard, it can be good."
It's tough to leave the Shepard triology behind, no doubt about it. Role-playing and sci-fi fans alike consider the first three Mass Effect titles to be some of the best games ever, and to see a fresh effort without the only protagonist they've ever known, well, one can understand the dissent. However, this is BioWare. They can make good with just about any character, right?
In the past, we've heard the studio say that Mass Effect: Andromeda will be the "best and largest" installment ever , and they also want the new adventure to appeal to both veterans and newcomers . Hopefully, we'll hear more about it soon.

Ha, maybe you should've given this one to John SHEPARD to post "in memory of my fem-Shepard's death at each of the different endings of ME3.
BTW Ben,
Don't know if you've noticed but soon as you've inputted your articles over the last few days, the comment numbers go bat-sh*t crazy with non-existent numbers for a while…..
for example, the Battlefront said 27 comments9after 26 minutes),
Bioware/ME4 said 32 comments soon after posting,
And The Helldiver's post said 58 comments 1 minute after posting(but at that very same time, only this post of mine here was actually posted in all 3 of these threads

Yeah, I know. No idea what causes that.
Good to see you back, though. 🙂
OK, Ben.
And thanks for the welcome back!
And as soon as I get a new PC tower, I'll start to send you some articles again(hate this %#^*#$ laptop I'm using now).
Anyway, I'll need to get your email addy once again as my old tower died on me with all the info & addys I had in it.
Z'OMG!!!! It's the saint! He's back!
*hallelujahchorus*
Hey Underdog, glad to be back.
How ya doing?
Good, man. Busy these days, but good. Glad you're back!
I'm totally OK with a new protagonist for the next Mass Effect game.
Bioware, just make the combat fun and make my new guy have different personalities based on the renegade and paragon system. Make there be a middle ground and you'll make a good game.
Agreed!
As long as the new character is solid. None of that Raiden in MGS2 nonsense!!! Shepard had his time. His story is complete. Don't give him the Kratos/Master Chief treatment. Let his character live on in gaming history and move on.
I welcome a new Mass Effect. Some of the best games I ever played. ME2 is my favorite game of all time. Hope they get a new engine to power their games as the stiff movements need reworking. And hopefully they are taking notes on Witcher 3's storytelling mechanics. Safe to say, by ME3, alot of side story was discarded for all out action.
I think most fans want Shepard because of the way it ended. If it had done a better job tying up lose ends, etc… I don't see this being an issue.
Just a side thought though, we essentially created Shepard. We created a class, how he/she looked, the dialogue choices. I don't think it's that much different with a new character. I won't mind.
I liked Sheppard but I'm plenty fine with a new crew and captain.
I can't wait for more Mass Effect!
