Doom Closed Alpha Testing Dates And Gameplay Revealed

If you want to test out the return of one of the most iconic names in video games, cross your fingers.

Bethesda has opened sign-ups for the alpha testing of the upcoming Doom reboot and they've also revealed the times and platforms.

This closed alpha will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC and begin tomorrow, Friday, October 23 at 12:01 a.m. EDT. It will end on Sunday, October 25 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. If you pre-ordered or bought Wolfenstein: The New Order on or prior to May 26, 2014, you have a shot of getting into the alpha (and are guaranteed a spot in the upcoming beta).

The alpha will feature 6v6 team deathmatch on a map called Heatwave. You can check out six weapons and two pieces of equipment, and you can select from a pre-set or customized loadout. For the developers, the alpha is "a series of development-driven tests designed to stress test the game's dedicated server infrastructure in a real-world consumer environment."

Doom is coming out next year for the aforementioned platforms, and here's a new gameplay video for the alpha.
