NBA 2K16 Off Like A Shot, Sets Records

Looks like a lot of people are enjoying NBA 2K16 right now.

2K Sports has announced that the latest basketball installment has shipped over 4 million copies worldwide in its first week. It officially launched on September 29, though everyone who pre-ordered could play it four days earlier .

2K basketball operations senior vice president Jason Argent said gamers around the world "are buying this title faster and in greater numbers than ever before." The game set the company's digital record as well, doubling sales from last year's effort in the first week. And there have been triple the number of online games played so far when compared to NBA 2K15 . The latter title shipped over 7 million copies all told and it looks like this year's entry is well on its way to topping that number.

We found the inclusion of the lackluster Spike Lee story disappointing and unimpressive , but the core game is still pretty darn good. Gonna try it? NBA 2K16 is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

I have 2K14 and skipped on getting 2K15. I got 2K16 on day 1 and absolutely love it. Yeah, the story that Spike created is cliche but being able to start in High School, have one year in college and make the jump to the NBA is pretty cool. My only complaint is that the seasons for HS, college and your rookie year are abbreviated. My Career mode doesn't actually start until after your 8 game rookie season. I just started my 2nd year so I cannot give an actual opinion but so far, I liked the career mode in 2k14 much better. I might change my opinion after playing more. I will say, it seems harder to actually make the starting lineup this year. I guess that is more realistic. Right now, I only get about 9 to 10 minutes per game. Bottom line, this is my favorite sports game since EA quit making college football so I love it.
