Seriously, are you even allowed to produce a Street Fighter without Zangief? It should be a rule that you can't.
Capcom satisfied millions of fighting fanatics by officially confirming that the iconic Russian wrestler is part of Street Fighter V 's roster.
The debut trailer below shows off about what you would expect: Devastating strikes and counter-attacks, along with a series of complex wrestling maneuvers that dole out a boatload of pain. Some new abilities include head-butting single-hit projectiles (like fireballs), and his V-Reversal allows him to completely nullify attacks. Said Capcom in the character description:
"When it comes to raw strength, not many of the World Warriors can compete with Zangief. Training day and night, he believes that the only way to victory is to have a body complete with perfect muscles.
Due to his intense training, which includes wrestling bears, Zangief is able to lift even the heaviest opponents with ease! In Street Fighter V, Zangief shows off the results of his training through his newfound V-Skill (Iron Muscle) and V-Trigger (Cyclone Lariat)."
Capcom adds that this is "just the tip of the iceberg" as Zangief has other tactics and skills you don't see here. I could never pull off his moves back in the ol' days; I imagine they won't be that much easier to execute in SFV.
