This fall's first-person shooter battle is clear: Call of Duty: Black Ops III vs. Star Wars: Battlefront .
Both appear to have immense promise but which one piques our reader's interest more? Well, it's Battlefront , although that narrowly beat out the "Neither" option in our latest poll.
Expected to be one of the biggest launches of the generation thus far, DICE's ambitious multiplayer title should be catnip for "Star Wars" aficionados. And besides, despite last year's Advanced Warfare making big strides forward for the aging franchise, Battlefront is an entirely different beast. And clearly, gamers are in the mood for something a little different this holiday season.
Now, as we continue to discover, it seems like all new games being announced are open-world. The true linear adventure appears to be dying out, but are you okay with that? Do you simply see open-world as a natural progress that is superior to linear interactive adventures? Or are you already despairing of the linear loss?

I vote "too one sided." There should be a free flow of linear exeriences and they are hard to find. Other than Uncharted (which is also growing bigger in part 4) you have to go to Japanese games to get your fill if you play regularly. We have Uncharted and God of War. One series is about to die and the other is in a scary position.
Me too. Open world gaming is the cool kid in class right now but I think it's blatantly obvious that we need both, and that both will prevail.
I prefer linear games but I'm fine with open world games as long as the story keeps me interested, and it isn't too overwhelming/tedious in side quests and collectibles.
Yes, open world, its just better…
look i'm just in the mood for something other than COD for once in awhile and battlefront seems to be more inspiring atm than just another COD.
and oh btw i do like linear games too, its like this everything in moderation haveing balance in life is key so having everything as open world would be just as bad as having everything being COD its gets old fast so yes linear games are still good too.
happy gaming
