Gamers aren't big fans of the free-to-play business model.
That's because "F2P" often proves to be misleading. Sure, you can play for free but if you actually want to progress and succeed, you sort of have to shell out.
It's a manipulative business model that a great many fall for, which is why it works and why it's popular. However, God of War designer David Jaffe has defended the implementation of F2P for his new game, Drawn to Death . Some consumers got on his back about it on Twitter and he tried to explain the studio's stance. Basically, this is not "pay to win;" it's a little different from standard F2P models. He's not even sure it'll work.
You can catch a summary of the debate at Paradiger . As you can see, many are suspicious but let's hope Jaffe knows what he's doing. He added that an open beta may pop up between December and February, which is cool, because the concept is definitely intriguing.

I don't think Jaffe has lost his developmental touch or creativity. Obviously Drawn 2 Death is at least interesting.
However, he has been consumed by the lot of phone games. In fact I remember watching a video he made and some if his favorite games at the time were only available on a phone. Coincidentally the majority of them are free to play and are rather pointless and a waste of space without forking over some money.
We will see how much that influence runs into his new game. Should be interesting.

What happened to the cellphone game thing he was getting into? Guess he's dragging its ugly, unwanted Tyrion head into the mix.
Don't be a Tywin Jaffe. Don't do it.
There's a game company in my city called "Big Viking Games". I can't remember which one because I don't play F2P mobile games, but one of their titles brings in $70k….. PER DAY.
