E3 2015 Sets New Attendance And Social Media Records

E3 continues to be huge.

The Entertainment Software Association has announced the numbers for this year's trade show, and they're an improvement over 2014.

E3 2015 attracted 52,200 total attendees, including developers, journalists and fans, from 109 countries around the world. That's up from the 48,900 and 100 countries that came to last year's event. Said ESA President Michael Gallagher:

"More than any other E3, this year was about the gamer. E3 demonstrated both the remarkable transformation of entertainment taking place on all video game platforms–virtual reality, augmented reality, hardware, mobile, and handheld–and awesome games."

Furthermore, E3 shattered social media records with over 6.3 million Twitter posts and 7.5 million Likes for E3-related posts on Instagram so far. Over 500,000 tuned in to the live Twitch E3 conferences, and over 1 million E3-related videos have been published to YouTube. Wonder how many of those involve the Final Fantasy VII Remake ?

Lastly, they've set the date for next year's E3; it will once again be at the LA Convention Center between the dates of June 14 and 16.

It was a terrific show all around, and Sony in particular just broke the internet with their wall of announcements that sounded like fan fiction — it was all too good to be true, and yet there it was.

Honestly, I don't think we're going to have nearly that much fun at an E3 again for a long time, if ever. Outside of Half Life 3, what are the mega game announcements we even have to look forward to anymore?
