GTAV Hits 52 Million, Becomes 4th Best Selling Game Ever

Grand Theft Auto V has sold lots of copies.

Lots and lots and lots of copies.

Publisher Take-Two Interactive recently released their fiscal results for 2015 and during a mostly positive report , we learn that GTAV has sold over 52 million copies worldwide.

Yes, 52 million. This makes it the fourth best-selling game of all time behind only Wii Sports , Tetris and Minecraft . Of course, it does help that GTAV got a huge re-release; well, actually, it kinda got three releases. It debuted on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, eventually came to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and just recently launched for PC. Hell, the PS3 and 360 versions alone generated over $1 billion in profit.

Will any game have any hope of selling more? Guess we'll need another cult phenomenon like Minecraft or Wii Sports .

Maybe I'll give in and get it for PS4 finally. If I can find it cheap.

It's worth it. I don't normally get into these games but this one was a lot of fun. Actually the first Rockstar games I finished.

They just got greedy with the re release after blatantly stating it wouldn't be coming to next gen consoles. Empty accolade.

Our gaming standards really have gone down the toilet when software like Wii Sports is the best selling ever.

Laughable.

It helps that it was bundled with the system.

@Kevin555 – To enjoy Wii Sports you needed to have a good relationship with both friends and family. You also needed to be extremely secure about your manhood not being treated in any way by playing fun party games.

Most "hardcore" gamers couldn't meet those requirements. So don't feel bad about it.

@mk ultra – Being bundled with the system is irrelevant. The Wii was essentially a Wii Sports machine. People paid $250 just to play Wii Sports. Wii Sports is not only the best selling game ever. But also the most expensive one.
