Just because a game scores well doesn't mean it's for everyone.
While a lot of people said they'd snag Mortal Kombat X on day one, the majority of participants in our latest poll said the brutal fighter just isn't their cup of tea.
Despite the recent surge in popularity, it's true that fighters remain a somewhat niche genre in gaming; some people just don't play them at all. And we should probably acknowledge that the game's utter viciousness could also turn off potential consumers. Over the years, I've noticed we don't have a huge fighter contingent here at PSXE so I'm not too surprised.
Now, what do you think about the newly unveiled Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness ? Is it the game that will begin Square Enix's comeback in the world of RPGs? Or will it be yet another disappointing effort?
Let us know.

I lost my interest in fighters about 10 years ago when I realised I get bored very quickly, so for me it's money wasted for like an hour of fun.
But back in the days when I was ~13 years old I could play MK3 till my eyes bleed:)
Never played Star Ocean so couldn't tell/vote.

Yes I understand why you get bored, and that's fine 😀
^ to JackieBoy but rest of this comment feels fit to serve others.

The way kids play fighters and the way we play fighters is hugely different.
Dig into them deeper and I guarantee you will find much to like, unfortunately almost infinitely so. Their mechanics serve as an epitome of gaming.
It's understandable if people won't make it through the leap, since the genre is the Hardest to grasp in all of gaming.
To the people that go at Witcher 3 for 200hrs, I still wouldn't expect them to be able to handle the real essence of fighters. It would be ~200hrs vs 1000hrs-infinity. That's the true scope we're dealing with here.

That aside – at this moment MK as a whole package isn't my thing. There's things I do like because I know & get fighters. One thing I have picked up from watching advanced and casual players is:
1) Advanced players skip the Fatalities, the casual players want to activate them. Obviously due to time but also about what the game offers to others. For the fighting fans, 'if you see it once, that's enough, now let's show our skills'.
—STAR OCEAAAAAN.
Fantastic. Let's go.
Also just realised my post has no coherent point…
since League of Legends also take 1000hrs-infinity.
It's just that it's no where near being niche. Completely the opposite. I guess that's a point.
Apologies for that! It was nearing midnight.
i'm a lover not a fighter…
I don't know what to expect…
Even among fighters, Mortal Kombat is like the ugly stepchild of the genre. It's not tournament grade, so a lot of people that are into fighters like SFIV, Blazeblue,Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, MvC, Guilty Gear, etc pay no heed to Mortal Kombat.
