Metal Gear Online Details: Maps, Balance, “Not Like CoD”

Metal Gear Online will be a highly anticipated multiplayer portion of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain .

The new MGO hasn't been fully detailed just yet, but the developers have been addressing fan questions on Twitter, so now we've got a lot more information.

The details were summarized at Metal Gear Informer and here are some of our favorites:

— The studio is working on ways to counter cheating

— Maps are designed to be used across multiple modes

— The kind of info you get during a CQC interrogation depends on the mode

— They can’t confirm right now whether there will be a beta for the game, but did note that it would ‘definitely help with feedback’

— Some people seem to be concerned the game will be more like Call of Duty, but the studio assures there is no risk of that. The game was never designed to be like that

— Dedicated designers and fans of previous MGO titles are working in it (among which key individuals who also worked on MGO2), and they’re listening to feedback from fans

— ‘Balance and sense of fun throughout are paramount to a good multiplayer experience regardless of intent’

There are plenty of fans out there who loved Metal Gear Online back in the day, and many are excited for the new iteration. If done correctly, it could one of the best and most diverse multiplayer experiences ever .
