It was a rough ride there for a while.
And developer Evolution Studios knows it, so as an act of contrition, they'll be offering some free downloadable content for the embattled Driveclub .
The server issues continue although the game is certainly more playable now. Racing fans weren't too happy so here comes the freebie DLC, as Evolution explains on the game's Facebook page :
"We know you have all been extremely patient and understandably frustrated during Driveclub’s launch, and to show our appreciation for the support during this challenging time, we will be offering the premium DLC packs for November."
The Season Pass has been extended to include four extra packs in July 2015. Furthermore, everyone who bought the game is in line for the November DLC, which includes The Ignition Expansion Pack and Photo-Finish Tour Pack, as well as two livery packs (5 new cars, 22 new tour events, 10 new Trophies, and 10 livery items). Lastly, the team confirmed that they'll be releasing a new game update this week that will add a Photo Mode, improved multiplayer collision physics, adjustments to the corner-cutting penalty system, and more.
As for that long-awaited PlayStation Plus version, they don't yet have an update. Oh well, at least the rest is good news.

I suppose having more of a broken game is better than having less of one.
Right now I just hope they quickly move back to their Motorstorm franchise and get rolling on that.
I like Drive Club and I still play it. But online side the game is still a mess for me.
EDIT: I think it's just though for SOny to offer a refund option on this one. They launched a ONLINE SOCIAL racer that still to this day has many problems. An option to refund should be offered. This isn't entitlement. This is the simple concept that when a business sells consumers broken products they should, as a matter of good policy and consumer trust, have the option to get their money back to those dissatisfied.

I don't think we are going to see PS+ free version of DC… like ever. Shame, I really wanted to give it a shot before I can decide my purchase.

i don't think so for awhile aye
Still no plus edition? This is ridiculous, and I'm not complaining about not getting something free, Sony heavily advertised Driveclub as a free plus game at launch and used it as the leading 'perk' you will get for buying plus when you get a PS4 at launch, and still it isn't available a year after it was promised. So many people, myself included, bought plus thinking it would be a great deal on the ps4, after all we're getting a whole game for free which has basically paid for the subscription already, well it turns out that it's really just a glorified demo and no we won't be getting it because that initial subscription we paid for has now expired. I think Sony has done many great things with the PS4, and I don't at all regret buying one but this is absolutely not acceptable.
EDIT: also the way they didn't even let anyone know that the plus edition wouldn't be coming out and just had people wondering why they couldn't find it on the PSN store is just about the worst way they could have handled this. Really a massive blunder for evolution and Sony.

yea, before stating that the PS Plus edition wasn't going to be available because of network problems they let members scratch their heads wondering why they can't download the game.
Have to say though that the game is great fun. I am talking about the single player – tracks are varied, cars are great and graphics incredible. I haven't done much online racing and yeah some will say this should be the most important part of the game, but for me, racing by myself against bots ro trying to get lap records is just as good for me.
Shame all reviews of the game focussed on the broken initial release and not on the repaired game. Yes a couple of things need fixing – challenges mainly and also the quirk of drifts scores appearing in avg speed entries.
great game though and something which is easy to pick up anytime.
As for PS+ free…..well I have to say that those waiting and complaining about the game delays should remember that this game (or at least a portion of it) is being offered for free and I am sure they would prefer to have a 100% working game than a not perfect experience.
Well it's not exactly free, we pay 49.99 a year for plus and other than being able to play online, what was worth that price on the ps4 in past year?
But you do make a good point about reviews focusing on these initial problems that seem to plague all online oriented games at launch. I really think we need a different review standard for online oriented games, what that standard is I have no idea but the current system doesn't seem to be working to me. Perhaps individual offline and online scores plus an overall score?
I didn't see any reviews that talked about it's broken online play. The majority of what I saw was people who didn't like the game much and didn't like how it handled.
I've grown used to the handling myself. I also think the content offering is strong for an arcade racer. There's a ton of great, great tracks and having like 70+ insanely detailed cars isn't light for an arcade racer either.
The only problem with the cars is the lack of representation from non-european manufacturers.
I do think the challenges and stuff and point system isn't as good as Project Gotham's Kudos system.

I feel pretty lucky that I downloaded the PS+ version of driveclub before they took it off not long after having it on the PS Store lol It's a pretty fun game but yeah…you can only do so much without online :/
Your full of it, you didn't dl it
Such a shame every time I hear about this game cause it's actually a great game. Its Physics is absolutely brilliant and truly a blend of sim and arcade. It's almost like an awesome new breed of physics. It's not too simple and serves as a really good set of training wheels for actual sim games like GT.
I'm always up for competition especially when this game starts working right so feel free to add me. I got a sneak peak at the challenge mode when it was up for a short time and it definitely intrigued me.
well i get some free DLC for buying the game early well i guess i'll hold onto the game for a little longer before i possibly swap it for something else
happy gaming
There's alot of "sorry" going on in the industry at the moment. 😀
All i wanna know , where is my god forsaken psn + free version . We are getting one hell of a delayed release date on that one .

I just hope they don't botch their next release. DriveClub should still satisfy my driving needs up until Project Cars or GT7 comes out.
