If you were hoping to play Diablo III across platforms, we've got bad news.
Lead Designer Kevin Martens told GameSpot that it's "definitely not possible at this point with this game."
He added that the console and PC ecosystems are closed and that's just the way it is. Unfortunately, this also means console players won't get the new Season feature, which was introduced on PC with patch 2.1. This option lets players level up a character during a certain time frame to earn special rewards. Said Martens:
"Seasons requires always online, and that's one of the major differences in the ecosystems there. For seasonal conquests and things to be what they are, everyone has to be playing on the same leveled field. That's a great example for something that doesn't work for consoles."
Martens did say that console players have advantages PC players don't, such as the ability to gift rare items to friends. Yeah, well, that only works well when you've got friends who keep up with your progression…everyone on my Friends list doesn't really play much, so I get crap. Some of you had best check your mailbox, too, because I've been gifting like mad.

I call bullshit…. Final Fantasy XI is cross platform across PC, PS2, and xbox 360, these guys need to stop flagrantly lying to people's faces.
P.S. FFXI is what 11 years old? I guess we're going backwards in learning how to put games online….soon they are gonna charge us extra for the online capability of a game.

Maybe in early development. Otherwise, too late.
Consoles are closed ecosystems, except that War Thunder, DCUO and FF XIV are all cross-platform PC and console games. That said, it's an old game (a good one, but old one) and I don't think there's a huge need for cross-platform play, and I'd take couch coop over seasons any day of the week and twice on Sundays.
well thats just the way it goes aye nvm if i want to play diablo 3 with my friends i'll just have to buy it on PC and then i'll probably still buy it for ps4
happy gaming
