When multiple retailers can't meet demand before the title is even available, that speaks volumes.
Best Buy has alerted shoppers this week of a disappointing occurrence: The retailer is forced to cancel some pre-orders for the Destiny Limited Edition. As reported by IGN and found at Reddit :
"The popularity of Destiny Limited Edition exceeded the quantities made available to Best Buy. As a result, we are unable to fulfill all of the preorders received."
As compensation, Best Buy is offering $50 in-store credit toward the purchase of the Destiny Digital Guardian Edition or the Standard Edition. That's not bad at all, as this means customers would only have to pay an extra $10 for the latter. As for the Limited Edition, it features a special steelbook case, the Season Pass, and a bunch of digital content.
This news comes not long after we learned that Wal-Mart had to do the same thing for the pricier Ghost Edition ($150). How many people are pre-ordering these things?!

damn it. i shouldve preordered the ghost edition when i had the chance. WHEN I HAD THE CHANCE. my friend convinced me it wont be worth it. i mean it kind of isnt bc ur paying for a toy and some goodies but omgosh just to have a steel case lol. ill still preorder the GE if i get the chance 🙂
Ghost Edition is already selling for $400+ easily really kicking myself for not grabbing one but just like you I thought $50 more for a cheap toy wasn't worth it. =Thankfully think I am in the clear this happened what 2 days ago now and I haven't received an email so yay!

I'm on the same boat. Sold out everywhere, per-ordered at best buy about month and a half ago. I'm hoping to not get that email. then again i live in a quiet area so i dunno
I've seen reports of the ghost edition for $1000 on ebay. I'm not sure if that is just the asking price but holy crap!

well as it turns out more than they expected ad well i'm not too surprised tbh alot ppl likely what they saw and was like i'll put money aside for that. and so alot of demand
