I'd say we're overdue for a new Prince of Persia game, wouldn't you?
And maybe Ubisoft will unveil a new next-gen entry at E3 this year. A Tweet by Ubisoft Reflections engineer Drew James (as seen at NeoGAF ) drew plenty of attention yesterday, because it included the image you see here. Pretty clear, wouldn't you say?
Unfortunately, that Twitter account has since been deleted. They didn't just delete the Tweet, the entire account is gone…what's that say? More proof came from a French website that claimed a new 2D Prince of Persia was in development, and they were using the slick UbiArt framework engine for it. It's the same engine that was used to power the well-received Rayman Legends , remember?
The last full-fledged PoP entry arrived back in 2010; it was The Forgotten Sands , another good game in the series, but it had far too much emphasis on combat. These games were always more about puzzle-solving and platforming and that's what I want, damnit. Sands of Time is still my favorite.
Stepping back into 2D? Not exactly a leap forward.
Yea i agree 2D definitely not a step forward. In any case i will still like a new PoP title.

but but but…ITS HD 2D!!!!
why are some companies just plain old stupid?
I'm sorry but God of War is way better than Prince of Persia.
I don't think anyone compared the two games. This post is about a possible new entry to the series, Not which game is better. Although i do agree!!
I disagree. I hated GoW. That doesn't make me popular around these parts, I know. It's good game, I know, but I can't stand the GoW franchise.
Love PoP, though. Well, Sands of Time, anyway.
Do you hate GoW or just GoW: Ascension? 🙂
The whole series. God of War. One of my best friends absolutely loves it, and every entry he tells me the new one is better than the last. So I've tried all of them at his place, but they just don't click with me at all.
I can see the inherent objective value, but I don't enjoy them at all. And Kratos seems like a f***ing tool to me. When I see him, all I see is everything Jaffe is not, and it makes me laugh a little.
I enjoyed Sands of Time, though.
Need to get to PoP; another series that's been sitting on my shelf since the remaster released :/
Still, colour me interested.
If its 2d then its going to be a mobile game.
Yes, because Child of Light, Valiant Hearts and Rayman Legends are all mobile games. Makes perfect sense, brah.
Don't forget LBP!
I'd love to be proven wrong. Not against 2D either. I am just speculating that the worst outcome is the most likely one.
this wud be cool
happy gaming =)
as long as they start fresh and dont tie it to any of the previous ones it should be good. cause as much as i liked the sand of time series, the story had run its course already!
I think Ubisoft will be well known for their new best IP "Watch Dogs"
f*ck yes to a new PoP, but f*ck no to a 2D PoP!
seriously, rayman is enough in the 2D platformer space PoP needs to stay 3D!
i wish they would do another really dark gritty gory PoP game, like the second one warrior within it just had a much darker tone to it and it really suited the prince.
the last one was far too kidsy, i want to see the bastard lovechild if the prince and kratos spent a special night together!
deep complex combat system with differing moves depending on whether the character is moving, wall running, ect, ect.
oh and of course copious blood and severed limbs!
and oodles of death traps, i miss the good old games where they would put you in front of a level and you would go now how the &^%$ am i suppose to get through that!?
we need more spelunky and super meat boy!
They had to add friggen the Jake Gyllenhaal prince to the pic. It's even out of order; he came after the 2008 prince.
Honestly, though Sands of Time stands as the best PoP ever(imho), the 2008 game was the best thing that ever happened to the Prince of Persia story, and for years, i've just wanted them to return to that plot.
