Gabriel Stanford-ReisingerA new report surfaced indicating that Helldivers 2 is the seventh highest-grossing game under Sony’s umbrella. This huge spike is largely thanks to its day-and-date PC debut, as well.
A Circana report shared by Mat Piscatella on Twitter revealed the game’s success among its peers, with extremely strong sales in both February and March and consistently drawing in over 100K players at a time, based on SteamDB, at least — that is to say, it’s not reflective of its performance on PlayStation.
If Sony wasn’t to release the game on PC, it wouldn’t even “rank among the top 20.” In March, the game was playing second fiddle to Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma 2, and even climbing to the top spot over Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth in February.
PC has been a huge part of the success of Helldivers II in the US. With PC, Helldivers II is already the 7th highest grossing Sony published game in history. Without PC it wouldn't currently rank among the top 20.
