EA Announces Closure of Cliffhanger Games, Cancels Black Panther Game

This year is shaping up as a year superhero gamers may want to forget. First, Warner Bros. canceled the DC Wonder Woman game, which was being helmed by Monolith Productions, the team behind the excellent Shadow of Mordor duology. More recently, Skydance Games announced the delay of their hotly anticipated Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra.

Now, EA has added to the anti-year of superhero gaming, as they announced the closure of Cliffhanger Games, and the cancellation of their upcoming Black Panther title. According to reports by IGN, the news was broken through an email to employees informing them of the cancellation and the studio’s closure.

Originally announced two years ago in 2023, details of the game remained quiet. Little is still known about the game, other than it was supposed to be a single-player player narrative-driven title, developed in collaboration with Marvel Games.

More news may surface in the future about the project.
