What is going ON with my Final Fantasy XIII?
Okay, so somehow, Dragon Quest IX may have an adverse effect on the launch of Final Fantasy XIII , which is already a long ways off. I have said multiple times in the past that when the final result arrives, it will erase any and all reservations and acquired hatred the fans may have for Square-Enix. After all, an awesome game is an awesome game, especially when we're talking about the RPG for most role-playing aficionados. But I've realized there are a few things going against both the game and the publisher this time around. First of all, Square-Enix never had this amount of negative energy floating about the game industry before, and it's starting to build. A DS game pushing back FFXIII…? What ? Secondly, the gap between FFXII and FFXIII is really going to weary the avid franchise followers (like myself) and at some point, we're liable to forget . The whole situation is starting to worry me, and I'm wondering if anyone else feels the same way.
Now, just to clarify, I will be getting the game the day it comes out. I'm sorry, but that's just the way it's gonna be. But at the same time, I've become leery of Square-Enix's business practices, and the mere fact that they're nothing like the Squaresoft I adored a decade ago irks me. Hell, it annoys the crap out of me. And I'm not the only one; the point is, all this negativity circulating throughout Square-Enix's fanbase is going to have some backlash. I just think it's unavoidable.
God of War III…holy &*%*, that *%(Q is the (#%*!!!
New gameplay details are in, and there's a new full-length video , which is, unbelievably enough, real-time . That was enough to amp my excitement level through the damn roof, and it was already pretty effing high. I think the thing that really hit me right between the eyes was the combat style; it wasn't so much the visuals, it was what Kratos was doing . Now, we've heard that the camera will sit closer and a bit behind Kratos in this new installment, and we see that clearly in this awesome preview. But look at the dynamic control and atmosphere! I wasn't even playing, and that video was enough to make me sweat. This could very well be the most intense action experience we've ever had, although that may be jumping the gun…the game may not arrive for another year. Remember, the popular theory is that March 2010 is the launch for GoWIII; the previous two entries both came out in March, so…
Anyway, I think GoWIII may have topped Uncharted 2: Among Thieves as my #1 most anticipated title of the generation at this point. But as amazing as the latter looks, it's a tough race, and that's a good sign for the future.
Personal gaming update
Well, now that I have all the powers in Prince of Persia , I should be able to finish it up pretty soon. However, over the past few days, Flower has taken up all my attention; I just wish it was longer. You can finish it less than three hours without a problem, and I'm not sure if there's a reason to go back and re-do the levels again. I will go back, though, just because of how much fun – and how relaxing – it is. Killzone 2 is next and after that, yeah, I'm probably going to play Resident Evil 5 . I'm starting to become a very large fan of what's on the PSN, though; talk about innovation and originality ! And at some point here, I'm going to pick up LittleBigPlanet just because I have to. I mean, I feel terrible that it's not part of my collection.
So that's it. Hope you guys are having a happy V-Day, and if not…well, there's always the candy sale. Leap all over the clearance sales; just don't eat too much of that stuff. I'm guaranteed to eat some, which means I'm guaranteed to ramp up the rowing regiment for the next week. Oh well.
Has anyone thought that maybe it will have a good effect? Like they will take resources away from DQIX because its falling behind?

"There is a possibility that Dragon Quest IX delay could effect Final Fantasy XIII."
I hate all this complaining. It wasn't an official statement, and furthermore note that he said it's a possibility. Considering DQIX is only delayed three months, I doubt it will have any "adverse" effect on FFXIII; there's no way they would pull the whole team to help on DQ so there's no way it could delay FF by more than 3 months, if even half of that.
AND nothing about the quote specifically denies the possibility of them taking resources away from DQIX. It's not that I think the effect will be positive, but this is flat out putting words in the guys mouth.

Well, first, I'd like to say hi, I have been reading the articles here for a couple of weeks now, and they're great. This site is really good.
What I noticed about Wada's statement about DQIX affecting FFXIII is that he did not say how it would affect it. He did not say it would delay FFXIII's release, for all we know it could speed up FFXIII's release, so don't fret everyone, it's gonna be ok. And as Ben said, it's gonna be a great game (based on the videos we've seen), and we're gonna get it eventually, so why get pissed?

If they do delay the JP FFXIII release just because they don't want their two biggest titles so close together (which is what Wada implied), what reason is there to believe that this will affect the NA release date at all? Let's save the whining until we actually know something.

So now the negativity begins with Square-Enix? The last game I've enjoyed from them was XII, there really hasn't been anything else besides numerous ports and spinoffs, along with what I see as a hellhole of Final Fantasy VII Tifa Tomb Raiders and Chocobo Racing HDs for the future…my excitement for XIII has been lost since 2007, they're really good at not doing what their fans want (getting it out on time, among other things). By no means am I skipping XIII, though.

I think with all the wating of ff13 people are going to be expecting a superb masterpiece out of it and if it does not deliver it may kill the ff franchise itself, and that, I think would be tragic ff represents rpg as a genre.As for god of war 3 damn the vid was awsome as hell and I do believe that it is actual footage like sony said because something in the beginning. Ben…No shame at all that you're watching Swingers, fantastic movie. I can't think of a more fitting movie for this Hallmark holiday. You're so money baby, and you don't even know it. flower is the best game I have played from PSN.
I thought it was a little bit expensive but it is definitely worth every cent. I hope they make some extra levels and I encourage everyone to get it.

to put it simply – you fly a petal around a field using the sixaxis, through checkpoints to unlock more checkpoints until you have activated all checkpoints thus completing a level, and completing each level re-awakens the city.
The lead programmer of thatgamecompany describes it as:

which I think sums it up pretty well.
am begining to flow away into the non care sphere about final fantasy..
on the other hand GOW III had my jaw dropped off..and am sure its coming over the next year

I watched the uk hoodie horror 'eden lake' last eve which turned out to be a perfect vd-day movie. couple goes on romantic weekend, couple gets terrorized and tortured by young thugs. i watched the avchd/bluray on my ps3 which between flower and my recent purchases of skate2 and LBP with tax return money, played the part of my valentine very well yesterday (i guess one of those kinky japanese peripherals would've finished the evening off perfectly). i can't believe i fought back the urge to buy LBP for so long, i love it and haven't even had people over for multiplayer yet.
Hey, I got flower and it says it's 1-2 players, anyone know how to play 2 players(is it online or something). There is no option for 2 players and turning on a second controller doesn't do anything.
It is neither I don't think… in all the press release talk and review there is never any mention of two players… unless I missed something bad!

Hey I absolutely love that trailer for FFXIII. It looks gorgeous and quite frankly I actually like the look of it a nanometer better compared to GOWIII (sorry, please don't bash me, it's just me…).
But…for a DS game to delay um…a huge game that could possibly help out Square Enix after their last troubling year…um…is that a good idea??? (sigh!), but I still want to get the game of course. In fact…it might be the thing, that will make me buy a PS3 when it comes out.
Of course there are numerous solid triple A titles like MGS 4, Resistance 2, LittleBigPlanet, Killzone 2, Valkyria Chronicles and etc…but heh…I think this would be the game to finally break my suppression of desire.
I'm still counting on Square Enix…even though they will let me down a couple of times…*sniff*…make that many =(
What's wrong with a March 2009 for a release date for God Of War 3 ? It is still March after all or is it as there was so many years in between God Of War and God Of War 2 that they want the same amount of years inbetween again ?
If it is ready just release it already. Unless they want it ot be a game of the year contender and not have the likes of KZ2 there or possibly Uncharted 2 if that is out this year.

I have to agree with you on GoWIII. I downloaded the trailer and watched it on my 61" DLP. Death is in my blood…fate has brought me here…I hope for nothing…I fear…nothing! GoWII was sick, but progressive scan just didn't satisfy my HD–it lusts for 1080P.
Flower: beautiful, mesmerizing and addictive–just like Flow. Anyone with motion sickness and seizure predisposition beware. I almost caught myself drooling a couple of times and my eyes felt sunny side up when I finished. I also had a big dumb bacon grin on my face. Oooohhhhh…bbaaaacccon…aaaggghhhh
@ scarecrow, So true, after seeing the God of War 3 trailer my husband and i completely forgot about Final Fantasy 13. Square will have to be careful cause when more games come out that are must have people will forget Final fantasy, just cause that game has been annouced since 2006 and we're in 2009 and might have to wait till late 2010 for it the longer they hold back on Final fantasy 13 the harder it might be to keep the attention on it. We'll see though.
