In case you missed it, Paris Games Week took place in France earlier this week. Sony put on a good show too. I’ve noticed the last few years that Sony’s strong showings are actually in other events besides E3. Both Paris Games Week and The Playstation Experience (coming in December) have proven to be great events for their games and of course, for us fans of Playstation. Dare I say even more so than E3.
It wasn’t without it’s difficulties though. The stream didn’t work properly all the time for me as it kept cutting out. But for the most part I have to say that Sony did really good with this event. With that said, here are 10 of the best announcements that came out of Paris Games Week in no particular order.
As you can see there is very much a Journey or Abzu vibe in this trailer. I actually expected them to say it was from the same creators. Either way this game looks very whimsical and pretty. Biggest surprise is that was announced as available that very same night. Also it’s pronounced like “today”. ooh-ray. In case you were wondering.
The more I see about Monster Hunter World the more tempted I am to jump in. You see, I’ve never played a Monster Hunter game and from the looks of it, and what I’m hearing from other people, this looks like an excellent jumping point. This thought was solidified when it was announced at the end of the trailer that you can play as Aloy from Horizon.
If you haven’t played Spelunky you might be missing out. It’s a perfect blend of difficulty and good gameplay that makes it hard to quit. We’ll see if they can keep up the formula with the next installment. Definitely looking forward to some more spelunking and lively characters.
Continuing on the indie front was announcement of Guacamelee 2. The first game is a blast and probably one of my favorite platforming games I have ever played (check out our PS4 review ). The new one includes 4 player co-op and is coming out soonish. It doesn’t seem like there is any Vita love though. Which is unfortunate.
A surprise announcement from Sucker Punch (that’s where you guys disappeared to) was the new upcoming open world game Ghost of Tsushima. It takes place in Japan in 1247 which happens to be during some huge points of history for the country. If Sucker Punch’s track record with the Infamous series is anything to go by, this should be something to look forward to.
We got a new trailer for The Last of Us II and just, wow. That got pretty dark. It actually made me cringe. We get a look at what looks to be new characters. It seems like this trailer just gave us more questions than answers. I have faith in Naughty Dog though.
Another trailer that took a dark turn as well. Similar to previous trailers, this one shows a scenario and then shows different ways it could turn out. It really seems like they put a lot of thought into the decisions you make and their effects. And it looks like they aren’t afraid to tackle some tough issues.
This trailer showed off some more gameplay from the upcoming epic game. Kratos and son look great fighting together and I’m still excited to see how the ancient greek god ties in with this entirely new setting. The trailer was way too short though.
9. Shadow of the Colossus
A new trailer showing the battle with one of the most memorable Colossi. This game just looks fantastic. They are totally redoing it for the PS4 and it shows. It’s gorgeous and looks like I’ll be buying this classic once again.
The trailer for this upcoming Sony game showed some more of the story and it looks really good. Also on the news front it looks like not only will you be web slinging as Spider-Man but will also play as Peter Parker and even other characters. Interesting.
Bonus: PSVR Games
There were a ton of announcements (some we’ve heard of and some new) at the show as well. It really seems like they are pushing the PSVR. Hopefully it keeps going and doesn’t fall the wayside like other systems *cough*vita*cough*. Maybe we’ll have a post for the games soon. Either way it looks like a good time to own a PSVR set.
Overall I think Paris Games did really well this year and there are plenty of good games on the horizon. There were other announcements from the show but these were some of the most exciting. Hopefully the Playstation Experience will be just as strong.
What are you most excited for? Are there other games you think should be on this list? Let us know below.
Sucker Punch revealed finally their new game, ghost of Tsushima, great setting:feudal Japan in a open world,a setting many gamers were waiting for!!.
Another great[ps4 exclusive] sp game awaits us:long live the king, long live sp.
And about 5 weeks the ps experience, and then i hope to hear a release date of Days Gone, and what about the remake of Resident Evil 2, Capcom's Hiroyuki Kobayashi said 5 months ago that it would come "soon " ,its time for at least some news.
These 2 games are my most wanted.
2018 Sony brings us again many great[sp]exclusives[most of these will come in the first half of next year]:
-The remake of Shadow of the Colossus
-God of War
-Spiderman

Yup I'm looking forward to the PS Experience for sure. I'm surprised we didn't get info on a couple other games as well. Mainly Wild. I thought for sure PGW would be the place for that one.
2018 is shaping up to be something special that's for sure.
Ghost of Tsushima has my attention, just waiting on more game play.
The trailer gave me chills down my spine.
