Yeah, there's more evidence for more powerful consoles but frankly, I'm tired of talking about it.
Can't wait to learn more about your new game, Supergiant
I'm one of those people who has great respect for talented development teams with a track record of quality. I don't forget impressive achievements and I try not to forget the people who made them.
That's why I can't wait for Supergiant Games' latest promising project, the recently revealed Pyre . They say it's a "party-based RPG," which automatically gets my attention, and the art style is undeniably and uniquely fantastic. And it stands to reason, as these guys have produced a couple fantastic titles that stand out: Transistor wasn't quite my cup of tea but it was indeed a top-quality game, and I just adored Bastion . Not only has Supergiant proven they can make fantastic games that both look and feel original, but they've also proven they're not a one-trick pony. That's why we should pay close attention to Pyre .
I know "party-based RPG" isn't exactly explicit and it's feasible that I'll just hate the gameplay. But based on this team's first two games, I seriously doubt I'll hate it. At the very least, I can't wait to try it and really, Supergiant's success reminds me a little of Thatgamecompany last generation. Very different style of interactive entertainment, of course, but after two great games, one starts to get the feeling that the third title will be mint . Let's not forget: TGC started with flOw , moved on to Flower , and then delivered Journey . Yeah. So everyone keep a close eye on Pyre ; I'll keep checking the developer website in the coming months.
Don't count out Mafia III as a potential AAA production
Yes, I know that the previous two entries fell shy of expectations. I know because I played both of them and after Mafia II , I distinctly remember noting the potential of the series. It would be a mistake to say it's just a Grand Theft Auto clone, as most people called Mafia (and in fact, just about any open-world action/adventure game in those days). Done correctly , with a proper emphasis on atmosphere and narrative and tightened gameplay control, any Mafia game has a chance to be excellent. When I heard Mafia III was scheduled to hit in October , I put the title on my tentative radar, so-to-speak. I know the first two efforts were average and there's always a chance that the third entry will be another near-miss. But I've always known this IP's potential and based on my research , we have a decent shot at a great 8.5 game.
Of course, the problem these days is that open-world action/adventures are all over the place, so competition is just stupid stiff. If you're not one of the best sandbox games out there, you're not going to fare well. Plus, if you're going to launch just before the fall lineup really starts rolling, you better have the goods because some gamers might simply look past you and wait for the heavy hitters. We shall see.
Personal gaming update
I'm toward the end of Ratchet & Clank but I still want to do some of the optional stuff, like get all the gold bolts and maybe the RYNO cards, too. I got all 60 brains the other night and I've got the breathing apparatus so I don't have to worry about drowning anymore. Beyond that, it'll be all about Uncharted 4: A Thief's End , which has been my most anticipated game of the generation since PS4 launched. I'll also want to play Doom and then comes Mirror's Edge Catalyst , and I have a bit more time now that it won't be ready until June 7 . I know the Blood and Wine expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt might come out the same day but I can wait on that.
I thought I had no interest in any summer games but as it turns out, I Am Setsuna will be here in July and as I said yesterday, it could be the ultimate love note for traditional RPG lovers. I haven't completed a JRPG in a very long time; the genre has just sort of died for me. But I might just fall in love with this one. 🙂
It would be nice to get some official news about PS4K.
SuperGiantGames is one of the few indie devs I actually follow. I look forward to their next title.
PGU: I've picked back up my 3D Game Engine project. I'm doing things now in C++. I've got materials working pretty nicely now, including also alpha channel support for things like hair and eye lashes etc. I grabbed a model of Lightning from FFXIII from off the net and successfully got her loaded in.
People can check her out here.

I've got one directional light, and two point lights in the scene. This stuff is running right off of my Surface 3 tablet. I'm amazed what this little thing can do.
There's a great book out there I've been referencing, called Game Engine Architecture. It's rep is the best out there. Written by a former guy from Naughty Dog. Other great references is The Benny Box on YouTube. I actually worked through 60 of that guy's videos. And the LearnOpenGl website is fantastic for the rendering side of things and learning some great libraries to save you lots of time.
Anyway, I finished Fallout 4's main story. The final missions of the game left me in a love-hate state. There was definitely some pretty huge shockers to the story line and the kind of decisions it places upon you. It's pretty ingenious in ways actually. Some academically historical philosophies were being shown on this one. The devs did do their homework. What I hate is the constrained options you feel when it comes to your path. Why does everything have to be solved with your gun? I read about other paths I could've taken and none of them seemed like a path I would've wanted. So here I am playing out events I wouldn't chosen myself.

heyyy cooool. Now make her do somethin' dirty. 🙂
Sorry Ben I'm not interested in any of that.
This week I accidentally found a wonderful JRPG on my PS3. I don't even like going back to play the PS3 anymore but I shelled out 40 bucks for it pretty riskily.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold steel is a game I didn't know existed. I loaded it up and it's like woah, this is a real turn based jrpg and it's a great game that is a marked mix of Final Fantasy VIII and Persona 4.
Very cool. It makes me sad that the people today don't get why this is a great way to do battles for an RPG.
We'll be getting the second one later this year so prepare for more awesomeness.
sweet! on PS4?
I wish, only ps3.Luckly my ps3 is right next to the ps4 just for situations like this.
yeah so is mine
Wait do you also not know Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky exists? I would've immediately told you about them but I thought you definitely knew. Damn.
Play Trails in the Sky in the midst. It's the best narrative out of all of them and is the foundation for the world that they all share. Liberl vs Erebonia.
There's a trio of them right now representing Liberal, Crossbell, Erebonia. The Crossbell one is 100% Japan only, not subs.
The second one's somewhere on September I think. It even has knight battles(Yes, big robots) that are more complex than WKC.
I really liked Mafia 2.
On Wednesday I thought I bought Manhunt in the PSN store. When I tried to play it on Friday I realized I never actually bought it, I only added it to my cart. Found it was part of this weeks flash sale and got it for $9 less than what i was just willing to pay for it. 🙂 I thought $15 was way too much for a ps2 game I already own, but when i found out it had a platinum I had to play it again, and $6 seems about right if it looks good in 1080p.

Yeah, I already own almost all of the original PS2/PS4 games, so it was hard for me to justify the regular price on most of them. But the sale prices should make each of these games a much more attractive purchase.
I find it somewhat annoying that Uncharted 4 is already completed and mostly printed and just laying around in some warehouse.I have no doubt that there will be plenty of leaked copies.
I suspect Final Fantasy XV is in the or near the same state and the desperate folks are still sitting around talking about all this extra time to fix the frate rate. Hello? It's a world wide release.
PGU
I'm playing through Suikoden I and am in love – 18 hours in. Wow, such an old game but I won't stop playing.
I'm up to Antei, after losing to the Rose poison and getting Flik + his army.
PGU
Obtained the RYNO in Ratchet and Clank…had fun obliterating things.
BTW, as devastating as the RYNO is, a fully upgraded Bouncer is delightfully destructive.
Totally cheated my way into a pre-order Bouncer download code aye. Only just grabbing the game this week, normal buy. Can't wait.
