Ben’s Week In Review: January 5

A new year, a new generation. What more could you ask for?

So, whatever happened to PlayStation Move?

The instant it happened on the Wii, everyone viewed it as the next big innovation in video games. I saw it as nothing more than a gimmick, and gimmicks have life spans. The problem is that inherently, gamers do not want to move when playing their games; an additional problem arises when you're talking about depth and accuracy. In no way will ever moving my arm about be a fraction as precise as pressing a button. It's not a technological limitation; it's just comparing room for error. With the press of a button, there is no error. It's logical. All motion sensing has really done is make most core games more awkward and in my estimation, not half as immersive. It's great for certain things, but not for core games .

With PlayStation Move, Sony tried to prove that hardcore gamers will embrace that gimmick. They didn't. One could argue that Move never really got a killer app but let's face it, what could they have made specifically for Move that would've resonated with core gamers? Nothing would've worked, I think. And lo and behold, just a few years later, and the Move basically feels like an afterthought; Sony hasn't mentioned in a long time, if you haven't noticed. Kinect is perhaps a bit more important for Microsoft just because it's seen as "cooler" with no physical instruments necessary, and – I'll repeat it again – Xbox has a much larger casual following.

By the way, a perfect example of why Move doesn't work with core gaming is BioWare's obvious reluctance to implement motion control in Dragon Age: Inquisition . Nobody wants it in that game. What's that tell you?

What if Final Fantasy XV really had been – and remained – a PS4 exclusive?

The latest hot rumor is that FFXV was initially exclusive to PS4 . I don't know if that's true or not, but if FFXV sprang from the ashes of Final Fantasy Versus XIII and the latter was always intended to be a PS3 exclusive, why not? Well, because the main franchise has since become multiplatform and I can't see Square Enix reverting to exclusivity. No publisher in their right minds would do such a thing these days. But just for the sake of argument, what if Final Fantasy XV was only coming to Sony's new console? Many fans blame Microsoft (indirectly, I imagine) for contributing to the fall of FF; i.e., Square Enix wanted to appeal to the West, the West loved the Xbox, so S-E felt compelled to make a significantly different product.

However, gaming is definitely global now. Things have changed. It's just interesting to consider such an impact; the return to exclusivity of one of PlayStation's greatest exclusive franchises. Yes, it was only on Nintendo before that, but those old enough remember the fallout over FF going to Sony. Going back to Sony would be huge news, but that doesn't mean the developers would bring the old Final Fantasy back, too. No, tragically, that FF is dead and it's never coming back.

Personal gaming update

Gran Turismo 6 is really starting to annoy me, but I'll see if I can finish up. Then it's back to my big games on the back burner, which have been sitting there for way too long. The good news is that January seems mostly bare; I might want to grab that Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition at some point, but it's hardly a necessity. I already reached 100% and I probably wouldn't play through it again; I just tend to want the best version of any game in my library. Maybe it can be a birthday present later on, or something.

Things get much tougher in February; that's when inFamous: Second Son and Thief arrive. The bad thing about inFamous is that it's another giant open-world game, guaranteed loaded with tons of stuff to do. 'sigh' This is one of the biggest reasons why, as I get more pressed for time, I want linear adventures . Thief should be awesome, by the way.

Ben, Infamous: Second Son will be released on March 21, so only Thief for February, heh.

I'm glad Move is dead and I never bought it. It looks like Kinect was a gimmick with a purpose though, they wanted it in your home to make it an interface. So now people like talking to their Xbox and having it look at them because their kids got it into their home in the last generation. So now Sony is going to do that with their own camera but thankfully it's optional.

Plenty of third party games are going exclusive but it's Xbox One exclusive because they get paid. Sony wouldn't pay for FFXV so it'd never happen. That series died when it went multiplat and yeah MS helped stick the blade into it.

The giant evil cold snap is hitting right now so I'm hunkering down for lots of games and movies. I'm trying to finish Dead Space 3, jeez that's the longest campaign in history. It's good but every vestige of horror is gone, it's just an action game. I won't be getting any more after this one.

All this Tomb Raider talk had me pick up the Tomb Raider Trilogy. I've beaten Underworld and have moved on to Legend. Having lots of fun, I skipped these because puzzles and platforming was unappealing to me for a long time. Funny how your moods just change.

There's also the occasional time spent with Contrast and Killzone: Shadow Fall. I have to stretch my PS4 time out since it will be over and devoid of games for a long time after those two are over.

From personal experience Move wasn't as easy to use as Wii Motion plus. It was too sensitive and twitchy. Funny that Metroid Prime 3 controls owned the anything Sony did with move. I actually prefer motion controls for some games. Nintendo knows how to do motion controls for their games. I can't imagine going back to standard controls for console Zelda games, Metroid or Pikmin. Hell even CoD is better with the Wii mote and nunchuck. So easy to own online once you get used to your settings.

Don't much care anymore what SquareEnix does. They're so far off the mark when it come to that franchise. I really don't get how they can kill their landmark franchise so easily yet still put out decent JRPG's like Bravely Default and Dragon Quest.

I'm enjoying some snow along with World. So I'm stuck inside playing games! 🙂 About 70% done with A Link Between Worlds. Trying to finish Project X Zone. It's a pretty long game. Also going to try and get through the Bravely Default demo which is more than a normal demo. It allows you to make progress that can be transferred to the retail game.

I guess the motion thing must come down to some kind of skill with it and coordination. To be honest I didn't spend a lot of time trying to learn the motion controls on Wii but I did try and fail and rage quit many times. FPS games were impossible for me, it felt like I lacked control.

But this is coming from a guy who couldn't ride a motorcycle because clutching and shifting was too much extra sh*t.

I had no issues with the Wii. It was pretty easy for me to pick up and play. Metroid Prime was a great example of how motion controls can be done right for FPS's. Activision nailed it with CoD too. Move was just way to sensitive. No matter how long I played with or how many different variations I tried in the settings, I just couldn't get it to work for me. I think Sony was over ambitious. There was a reason Nintendo passed on the move tech and went with what works best.

I did play Modern Poopfare on Wii, I just can't control that sh*t. I'd go to shoot a guy and it'd move my character. Totally weird and unnecessary to me when I can do it better with my thumbs, plus the aiming was always "off" since the reticule never actually aimed where the gun aimed.

PS Move? Good riddance. The whole motion control stigma is something I'm so glad feels by and large passed. That casual gamer cash-in move by Nintendo helped them stave off what I believe was inevitably about to happen with the Wii U.

PGU: Well. I finished it. Assassin's Creed 3. I've played a lot of assassin games in my time. Played them as ninja. Played them as secret service agents and as big boobed women for hire. But I never played one as a do-good public servant of a Homestead. Yep, can't say I've carried myself along like Michael Landon from the 80's television family drama "The Little House on The Prairie." I've helped two people court into marriage as an assassin. I've helped little piggies back into a farmer's coral. I helped a husband find their missing spouse. All as an assassin. And the list really does go on. But for all this do gooding it doesn't take long before you just go right back to… SPOILER ALERT murdering your childhood best friend and then also your father =p
Anyway, I did play almost all of it, content wise. I made myself into a one man war machine. Toting two holsters with two double barrell handguns at my side all the while carrying a replica of George Washington's sword on my member. I became a mean killing machine. Seriously. I could walk into a pack of Redcoats and 4 would be dead in seconds as I unloaded 4 shots, one right after the other on the poor saps. Then, if need be, I could call on 6 of my fully trained assassin class recruits to help mop the floor with the rest of them… ahhh good times.
anyway, the game has a list of problems a mile long and I could tell many, many stories of the most silliest events. But I enjoyed it overall. In all objectivity playing what I have, I'd have scored it between an 8 and 8.5.

Haha that's good stuff right there.

well I agree with your score assessment of AC3. I certainly didn't delve deep into it like you did. I got into enough for me to enjoy it but did as little as I could to get through it, while still upgrading and making it worthwhile.

I'm thoroughly enjoying AC4. It's a lot of fun floating around the open seas in the carribean.

I attempted to use PS Move for a few games but in the end I really only used it to play Sports Champions, much like the best selling Wii game being Wii sports. And Kinect is only popular on xbox because they spent a year and a half bundling the crap out of every system they sold. The most its used for is a mic.

I tried to catch up on all the news I missed and I saw Bioware talking about gamers might wanting to have some sort of gimick in the games and to be honest, I don't. The wii u is completely opposite sold on me because of the stupid wii u pad thing. Even though i completely love the Zelda and Metroid franchises there's no way im going to have to wrap my arms around a 3DS on steroids. Hell last I checked the wii u was barely pushing 3 million whilst the ps4 is already past that point. Added into that, I know this is a playstation site but did Nintendo think putting a classic, good Zelda game on the 3DS but some crappy looking Dynasty Warriors Zelda game on the wii u was going to help push the system? Not to mention every nintendo game has gone up in price.

I wanted to buy a wii and gamecube controller directly from nintendo along with prime 1 and 2, it was over 600$. One day I hope they return to not sucking. Although the 3DS has some fantastic games, I bought one for my girlfriends little sister and she loves it. I have a Vita so I don't plan on investing in a 3DS, but its really the only 'good' thing nintendo has going at the moment.

Moving away from non-playstation stuff, In 8th grade when we all learned FF13 was going multiplat, quite a bit of people decided not to buy it. It seems I was the only one who thought it was great that Final Fantasy was being stretched across all consoles. FFXV, to me, looks promising and it could be that I'm only excited for it because I've waited 7 years for it but at the same time, everything from Leviathon, to the fact its Nomura's game, to the music, to the setting and just about everything i've seen makes me excited for it. Its going to be great, and if I've noticed anything its that FF13,-2,-3 looks 10 times better on the ps3 so when it comes down to it, I don't think its going to be ruined. I wouldn't mind it being exclusive though, it would ease my mind a bit.

I got my girlfriend into playing Minecraft, and for the first time we actually played a game for almost 7 hours straight. We had a lot of fun. When we got back, I played with my friend and his fiance, my girl, her little sister and my other friend and we built a bunch of random stuff. Its weird that I enjoy it so much. I also realize that if children should be playing any game it should be Minecraft.

In Gran Turismo 6 I now own every Aston Martin. It's funny how no one online will play with everything turned off (racing line, ABS, etc…) so I tend to only play with friends. I see the micro's now though. In GT5 online races gave you quite a bit for completing the 24 mile race track, but now your lucky to get over 2k.

Also played FF6 while I was out on my vita and I gotta say I actually really enjoy it. Took me awhile to adjust to the classic pokemon-like graphics but still, its great. I also ran into another legion of chocobo's on FFT war of the lions. I don't know why, but those guys are possibly the hardest thing to face in the game for me. I managed to play quite a bit of Kingdom Hearts as well. It made me appreciate Nomura even more. His games are so good, and its another reason why I'm confident about FFXV. Stuck on the sephi fight and the gummi mission 3, and those two trophies are all I need for the platinum. Finally for the most recent games i've played, I decided to play Dishonored, again. I really wish it was challenging, but its too easy for me. I keep playing it on the hardest difficulty like it was easy mode. The most recent playthrough has been me trying to collect every piece of gold, and its tricky. One mission I was missing 3 gold. It was like 3021/3024.

Oh yeah, I'm glad Metro got an award here. I think I said it before but its definitely my personal GOTY. It may have been semi-short but wow was it well developed. I saw that the banshee hair version of Tomb Raider has a different voice actress? Wonder why that is. Then Capcom explaining the reason why Resident Evil does well. Weren't they angry because it didn't break 8 million or something?
Ever since that Megamule came out for Dark Souls on the ps3, hackers have been all over the place. There's now like 12 videos showing how to get infinite hp and whatnot on youtube so Dark Souls has been ruined. I'm glad Dark Souls 2 comes out in 2 months.

It didn't snow all month over here, but of course, today of all days, it decided to snow all day. Hope everyone had a great christmas and new year and you all stayed warm and got a bunch of stuff.

Finally to end this long post, I saw BikerSaint was back. Glad to see you back, and I hope you had a great christmas and a happy new year. I also hope your in a much better situation now as well.

Minecraft is the ultimate example of a game that *has* to be played to be understood.

I'm with you on Metro Last Light being a worthy GOTY candidate. My personal GOTY is Bioshock Infinite but Metro sure is a strong #2.

Well I think in large Sony has moved on from motion controls. But I think more so it appears like it's fading out because of the PS4. You can buy a camera separately and the DS4 can be used. You don't need the "move setup" anymore.

I was always a fan of move, I thought for some games it was great (RE5, MAG) while others it was difficult to use (KZ3) and then of course there were move oriented games where it worked and played very well.

I don't necessarily think Bioware has reluctance to implement it. They specifically were wondering and were willing if gamers were interested. I personally think it's a waste of time as this type of game doesn't need it.

PGU: Well i didnt want to finish AC4 quite yet which is great! So I started Knack and I'm telling you right now I have no idea what game reviewers are playing. It's such a good game. I think most reviewers are playing on easy because I read some complaints that the Ai waits for you to attack them and thats just not true. Graphically its pretty dang stunning. Many times it's been said we have Toy Story type cgi, Well Now Its true. There's rarely any type of hiccup, I mean it runs almost flawlessly. All I can do is smile while playing it. It's what I was expecting from Mark Cerny. Once again glad I didn't listen to reviews.

I got Need 4 Speed today, and played it for a few and it is pretty sweet. The gameplay or rivalry seems to be implemented well. I couldn't play much because my Internet went down however, I'm excited to start playing more.

Playstation move never used it but ima guess its similar to the play station eye toy
which i personally didn't care for

Square enix well as a publisher theirs only 2 games that really interest me 1 is developed by Access games Drakengard 3

the other square enix develops KH3
on FF being multi plat ill say it time and time again M$ is paying SE money for it on their system M$ is trying to steal the FF fanbase because that would be the smartest move on paper to get RPG fans to buy RPGS on Xbox instead of play station

as for what ive been doing Phantasy Star Online 2 JP server ship 2 MMO action RPG well be getting a new crafting system Jan 15th

level 65 force level 65 techer on 1 character
Level 60 braver level 46 hunter on other character

PGU: Finished KZ:SF single player. Now playing AC:BF, Knack on ps4 and DmC and Deadspace 3 on my laptop.

Personal Note: I left our pow-wow last night to cook dinner, shovel snow, before picking up my baby niece and my folks from the airport an hour away. Ben, if you were genuinely offended by my "check your agenda" remark (which was in response to your "need glasses" remark), I was not referring to your integrity or personal credibility, so sorry if you took a low blow. EVERYONE has an agenda. For example, as a gamer, a journalist, as a site admin, and a person with other non-gaming interests, anyone would have many different priorities. As a journalist, your priority might be to give the fairest coverage of products, services, and news of the industry for the consumer, hobbyists, and investors. As a site admin, running the site solo for the most part, your top priority may be to efficiently and regularly post articles and content that generate the most discussion and internet traffic to increase the site's marketing value for ad revenue. As a gamer, you'd want to play games that you want to play and how and when you'd like to play, as oppossed to having to play a game for a review. And as a regular person, I'm sure there are plenty of things you need and/or want to do that do not involve gaming at all. This is all a given.

Over the years this agenda can and will change. And it has. No surprise here. I just think over the years, the coverage of this hobby has become less positive and fun, and more jaded. If it's not generation fatigue, then we're talking how lackluster next gen launch libraries are, or how the Vita lacks games (all of which maybe true to some extent), without fail, at every opportunity to mention it, instead of emphasizing the bright sides of this hobby (of which there are many). This has also come up in reviews. "Review's tilt" (as you put it some time ago) more often seems to have negative sway, more so on a particular line of products, than a positive one. And, if you don't like the theme or political/philosophical underpinning of some story or game, then, phew, forget about it. Bill O'Reilly can eat his heart out.

But, really, that's your business. You're grown man, and I'm NOT going to tell you how to act, or do your job.

For what it's worth, I think you are a well spoken individual that can be very thoughtful, and personable and relatable. And like any person you, can be respectful, or you can be belligerent, again, that is entirely up to you. Please understand others are humans, too. Your readership, or more accurately, this site's readership, are neither your bosses, your subjects, your employees, or customers. They are people who will reflect the same behavior you show them, particularly the long-standing ones. They aren't looking for a "pat on the back" anymore than you are. Thank you, and apologies for my offensive remarks.

same thing happened to move that happens to every other $ony device.
it died because they did not support it properly!
whats the best biggest budget AAA game made for the move?
sorcery?
a game with a average review score of what, 6?
if $ony gave the move what it deserved, ie a big grand epic RPG with move controls, a more mature gritty zelda, move would of exploded the way the wiimote did.
but they dident, they saw the success ninty had and assumed if we copy them will get the same result.
but as usual, companies always forget.
1 they dont have the fanbase ninty has, ninty fans expect more casual kids games, and repeats of what they have done for the last 20 years!
if $ony or M$ were to do what ninty does, they would go bankrupt faster than onlive!
2 the copier never does as well as the originator.
but of course, no matter how many times those 2 facts are proven, companies will refuse to believe them.

move died for the same reason the vita is dying,
it does not have any amazing killer games to show its true potential, and even worse 99% of its content are ports.
the best move games out there are DS3 based games, KZ3, SOCOM4, MAG, adapted for the move, and might i add pretty poorly making the games harder to control than with the original DS3.
taking a 3 michelin star recipe and creating it with ingredients stored in a bums, well, bum, aint going to net the same results now are they?
time and time again $ony release a new feature, and time and time again it falls to the wayside because they dont support it properly.
the eye camera a perfect example, it CAN do EVERYTHING the kinect does, so why dont games use it!?
the ps3 CAN let you play your own music while your playing online MP, so why dont most games support it?
because $ony always creates something than sits back and says our work is done, expecting others to take and run with it.
it does not work like that, if you dont force people to use something, there not going to use it!
devs have enough on their plates as it is!
trophies for instance, if $ony did not make them mandatory how many games to today would be missing them?
50 bucks says most, especially third party games!
$ony seriously needs to stop creating new features than putting their feet up and saying our work is done.
its not, you actually have to support the device and encourage people to use it, otherwise all that hard work of creating it was for nothing!
but hell on high dam water if you actually get that through their thick gorilla skulls!

I disagree. The vita is flopping only because of the price. I love Sony products but buying a handheld that costs the same as a brand new ps3 does not make sense financially.

Also the move was crazy expensive…especially if you consider multiple players.

move wasent crazy expensive, it was the same price as the DS3.
well at least here it was, you could pick up the starter pack which came with the move and the camera for the same price of a DS3.
as for the vita why spend 50+ bucks per game when you already have them for your home system?
yea you can play them while out, but is that really worth buying the same game twice?

It's unfortunate with Move. I so *wanted* it to succeed. I saw the potential of introducing something as sensitive and precise as a mouse to the world of console gaming, but never fully realized what holding that stick would imply of physical effort over time. Cause really, administrating the strategy play field with the Move stick (RUSE) became a serious test of your static strength in arms. Something I failed ungracefully at.

That entire Move affair was one of the biggest learning sessions I've experienced in adult time: To not get too carried away with hype.

But did I really learn? Cause these says I am giggling like a school-girl over the potential Oculus Rift brings to the table…

PGU:

During the Steam holiday sales I picked up quite a few games, amongst them Far Cry 3 and Skyrim. Will be interesting to try the PC versions.

I've only got started on FC3 so far, and from what I've played it really is great. I am relieved to discover they managed to carry over that same atmosphere from FC2.
I got a feeling I will spend a LOT of time in this game.

Then it's Skyrim again. While I never got to play much of FC3 on the PS3 due to serious generation fatigue on my part, Skyrim is a game I spent quite a few hours in. Luckily I never got to play much of the main story (I got lost in sidetracks, of course 🙂 ) so there's plenty to enjoy.

But will it be better with keyboard/mouse? I got a feeling it will, I always thought controls were a bit clumsy with a controller. Also, will the graphics be a lot better? I already thought Skyrim looked amazing on the PS3…!

And happy new year, you all. Gotta dig this community.

I was also a Move proponent, I remember exactly what I kept saying on this site. "Even though I'm not big on motion controls I will get it when there are more games for it. I want to experience everything Playstation has to offer."

and then the games never came. I did get mixed up in the Playstation Eye and its 4-5 games though. Waste of money.

I played the first mission on Far Cry 3 and was very impressed but I just don't think I can give that game the time it needs and I have no more gusto after wasting so much time trying to get into RAGE. I'll probably give it to a friend as a present.

It boggles my mind that anyone can play anything with keyboard and mouse. I understand the argument that a mouse is more accurate but that seems odd to me because I think that in first person you should be more like a human prone to aiming errors than Robocop, and then there's the keyboard. I mean, it's a KEYBOARD! It's made for typing words, you can't hold it, the keys are fairly loose and they are KEYS NO BUTTONS! I just don't understand you PC folks.

Ok I'll be quiet now.

Beamboom
Beamboom

I agree about the buttons. It's drastically easier with the gamepad buttons. On a keyboard there's just too damn many of'em, and they are nowhere near as accessible.
When I returned to PC gaming it took me two hours tops to refresh my mouse skills. But damn that sea of keys!

In fact I find myself in a quite curious state nowadays where I am not fully pleased with *neither* solutions. I like the simplicity and ergonomic nature of a gamepad and the precision, free movement and quickness of the mouse.

I guess this is what makes the Steam controller so interesting, cause they claim to have combined the best of both worlds. That is yet to be proven, but it shall definitely be tested.

Once you've been a PC gamer long enough, all the keys aren't an obstacle anymore. Most games don't use that many anyway, and the ones they do use are basically the same from game to game. Now trying to play a game like Flight Simulator is something else entirely. But then again, there's not enough keys to emulate all the buttons you need to interact with on a real plane. So eventually you'll learn to use the mouse to manually click all the buttons on the panels. Everybody has their preferences but I'll take a keyboard/mouse setup over a controller any day, and I started gaming in '82 with the Atari 2600 for those wondering how much gaming XP I have. Driving and fighting games are about the only exception to that. That's my I have a controller plugged in for just such occasions. As far as the Steam sale went, this year I didn't spend as much as normal due to real life circumstances, but still picked up 23 games for an overall average of $7.13 each. Been waiting to pick up Farcry 3 Blood Dragon and finally grabbed it in a dual combo pack with Call of Juarez Gunslinger, for $8.50.

@Beamboom – Farcry 3 and Skyrim play great on PC. But the mods for Skyrim is where you'll be blown away. From new maps, monsters, spells, weapons, graphic upgrades, etc. My personal favorite is the Requiem mod that changes the game to a more old school style of RPG with increased difficulty. So if you want a good challenge later, you may want to look into that. Especially since the vanilla version of the game is way to easy by itself. When you can stand in front of a dragon later in the game and not be affected by the breath attack anymore, yeah something is just wrong with that.

"Once you've been a PC gamer long enough, all the keys aren't an obstacle anymore. Most games don't use that many anyway, and the ones they do use are basically the same from game to game."

I know this, I was a PC gamer up until the PS3.
There's no arguing that the extreme surplus of buttons on a keyboard makes it less intuitive than a controller. A huge numbers of unused buttons does in itself hamper the experience.

How many times have I had to look down on the keyboard to hit the "M" key to see the map, the "I" key to enter the inventory, not to mention the B key for the often used binoculars in Crysis 3? My thumb has mistakenly hit V (thus my avatar doing a melee attack out in the thin air) so many times it's not even funny.

Add to that the more mobile and ergonomic shape of a controller and the keyboard is easily beaten on that area. The keyboard is designed to be typed on, not gamed on.

To return to keyboard keys after being used to the accessibility of controller buttons felt like a major downgrade. Two hands on buttons are better than one. And no surplus of buttons is better than buttons in vast abundance.

The irony is that the number of buttons on a keyboard is also one of the advantages. To have to enter a wheel of choice on the console for pretty much anything can be cumbersome. That's where the controller buttons shows it's weakness: There's too few of them.

There is no way Final Fantasy XV will be a PS4 exclusive, after Final Fantasy XIII's jump to 360 my confidence in that has been lost, so I am expecting it on Xbox too. Which is a tremendous shame, all the 3rd party games I associated with the Playstation have now gone multi-platform, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, Tekken, Devil May Cry… nothing seems sacred.

This is a huge problem, as it really devalues the console. Think back to the PS2 era where the Sony had pretty much every 3rd party at their finger tips, they utterly dominated that generation of gaming and since the PS3 that sense of exclusivity and power has been lost… which is a shame as still looking at the PS4 I dont see it having much over the Xbox other than hardware features, when for me its all about the games.

PGU:
Well this may come as a surprise to people, but on the PSN there was an amazing sale – The best I have ever seen on there, well one of the games as Mass Effect 1. Now many of you may have heard me b*tch about the series over the years, mainly due to the refusal of starting a trilogy where the 1st game has impacts on the later games with Mass Effect 2. Well I saw this as a god opportunity and I bought it and now have thoroughly enjoyed it, its just a shame it took so long for Microsoft & Bioware to get their act together. I bought a physical copy of ME2 and am now 20 hours into it.

It must be a wonderful feeling to start on such a great trilogy as Mass Effect with all games ready and unplayed.

lol I do remember you raging about that but it looks like your anger paid off. I almost bought ME1 last week but since I've already played 2 (twice) and can't seem to finish 3 I knew it'd be a gamble. If I could play them all the way through for the first time I'd get it.

I was kind of interested in the Move when it was first announced, but by the time it came out my interest had already waned. I thought it might allow me to aim guns like a mouse on a PC, faster and more accurately, but then again I'm bored to death with shooters so it's kind of pointless. I basically have no interest in casual games and no interest in waving my arms around while playing core games.

I don't see what it matters that FFXV might have, at some point in time, been envisioned as a PlayStation exclusive. I don't think the problems with the current iteration of the franchise has much to do with what consoles it's going to be on. They may have been trying to appeal to the West but the main problem was that the gameplay was ill-conceived and basically tacked on late in the development cycle. That's just a horrible lack of organization on SE's part.

PGU: Still playing GT6. Mostly doing a series of races I enjoy, then looking at what cars the AI are driving, buying those cars, and then trying the series again using them. Found quite a few great cars that way. Looking forward to whatever track they're coming out with for their promised "new track each month", of course they promised us a new X2014 event on Jan. 1 and here it is Jan. 5 and still no event.

Also playing Jak and Daxter The Precursor Legacy and a bit of Skyrim on PC, but I really don't have enough time to play three games at once so GT6 is getting the lion's share of my attention right now.

Anyone wanna buy my deceased PSP for parts? Or it would probably be easy to fix, it simply won't charge from the wall anymore.

Also I have these games in great condition:
Final Fantasy Dissidia 1 & 2, Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII, Silent Hill Origins, God of War Chains of Olympus, Tomb Raider Anniversary, My Katamari, Brave Story New World, Soul Calibur Broken Destiny, Dead or Alive Paradise, Dante's Inferno, Kingdom of Paradise, The 3rd Birthday.
