PlayStation Store Down For Maintenance

If you're wondering why you can't access the PlayStation Store today, here's why.

Sony is performing some required maintenance today; it's so they can upgrade the software for the Store. As such, service has to be interrupted between 5 a.m. PT (8 a.m. ET) and 9 p.m. PT (12:00 a.m. ET).

If you signed into the PSN prior to the downtime, you may be able to play games online and use apps, but if not, you're gonna have to wait. By the way, this maintenance has been going on since February 27.

Here's the official message:

"During this maintenance period, you may receive a message that states 'Sony Entertainment Network is undergoing maintenance' when attempting to access the PlayStation Store or PlayStation Home. If you have signed in to PSN within 5 days prior to the start of maintenance (meaning: any time since February 27th), you may be able to play games online and enjoy apps such as Netflix, HULU Plus and Music Unlimited during this maintenance period."

Oh, you can live without it for a day. And at least we know what it is, so a bunch of alarmists don't go freaking out because something on the PSN isn't working. Sony may never fully recover from that debacle, as memories are long when it's such a huge deal.
