Don’t Get Confused: Ground Zeroes Is NOT Project Ogre

When Metal Gear Ground Zeroes was announced , it was inevitable: Many would assume this was the secret "Project Ogre" Hideo Kojima and his team have been working on.

After all, it uses the Fox Engine and it's in a more "open world," which is in line with the Project Ogre descriptions. However, Hideo Kojima wants to make it abundantly clear that Ground Zeroes and the currently unannounced mystery title are not one in the same.

In a frustrated Tweet , the MGS guru said:

"While I am happy to know people liked 'MGS Ground Zeroes,' I'm sick & tired of people keep asking me like 'is that project Ogre?' here in Seattle everyday. Project Ogre is what the project that Ogre appears. Ogre does not appear in 'MGS Ground Zeroes' trailer."

That obviously makes it sound like "Ogre" is a person, a character of some kind. And furthermore, this means Kojima and Co. are working on two potentially revolutionary open-world-style games, which should make the fans all the more anticipatory. And in all this, where's Metal Gear Solid 5 ? So… three games in the works? That's ambitious.

Kojima said that Ground Zeroes is not the end, but the beginning. And that GZ is a prologue to MGS5. So i'd say MGS5 will be on Next Gen platforms.

Not sure about Ogre, it could be current Gen, maybe.

Little tid bit of info. Kojima twetted about the name 'Ground Zeroes"

"The title name is 'MGS Ground Zeroes', not 'Zero'. It is plural. There's not only one hypocenter."

More than one map? Could be like Battlefield Bad Company's levels, it had about 5 big maps (i'm refereeing to the first BC).

When MGS4 released Kojima said he wanted to take a more open world approach to the next MGS so those who thought this was his project Ogre must have missed that bit of information. That's why when this was announced as being open world it didn't surprise me one bit.

3 games in the works? I figured ground zeroes is just what everyone THOUGHT was gonna be MGS5… sooo thus wouldnt project ogre and ground zeroes only be two? Unless kojima also announced he was doing MGS5 as well?

That doesn't necessarily mean MGS5 is "in the works"

Oh settle down Koji, of course people are going to want to know if it has anything to do with the top secret mystery you keep talking about without talking about.

he must've overwhelmingly heard the question. Otherwise, it's a pretty reasonable assumption in my opinion so I'd expect the repetitiveness of the question.

Can we geek out a little more over the Ground Zeroes trailer? I've watched it four times already. That's now my number one most anticipated game, and whatever number two is, it isn't close.

Also add this to the list of games that clearly is going to run at optimal level on the next generation, though I'm sure we'll see a version of it for current gen consoles too. I am so excited thinking about the possibilities for the next gen at this point.

It got me wanting to play Peace Walker again. I dropped another $30 on it for the digital version so I can have it on my Vita. 🙂 was more than I wanted to pay for it but what the hell…Kojima deserves the support.

I'll be getting a vita soon. Not thrilled with the idea of buying games I already bought just a few years earlier in a different format, but the silver lining is that downloaded games should be a little more likely to transition to later platforms. I other words, maybe you and I won't have to buy PW yet again in a few years.

I never played PW, but I hope I get to before this month ends.
The amount of work Kojima-Productions are doing must be overwhelming.
That is why they have my full support.

Peace Walker is my favorite right behind MGS4. It's packed with almost limitless content. The best game on the PSP thus far. If you're a MGS fan you wil not be disappointed.

not exactly surprising, just the way hes been talking about the project hinted that it wont be MGS related.
this though puts in serious doubt whether MGS5 IS in production or not.
i seriously doubt it!
at least not as a ps4 launch title.
not to mention ZOE is suppose to be in production, but i seriously doubt thats taking too much time either.
more likely for it to be full steam ahead on GZ than oncce thats finished than hopefully will see something on project ogre.
seems a bit ambitious and risky to be fully developing 2 games at once.
