Dark Souls Artorias Of The Abyss DLC Coming This Winter

If you're a die-hard Dark Souls fan, you've probably been waiting for an excuse to dive back into the challenging fun.

Well, good news for console gamers: Namco Bandai has announced that the extra content included in the PC version of the game – Dark Souls: Prepare to Die – will be coming to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this winter. Called "Artorias of the Abyss," this expansion will go for $14.99 on the PlayStation Network and 1200 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live.

This addition boasts "more explorable areas, bosses and standard enemy types, non-player characters, armor and weapons." Click through the link above to catch a glimpse of what to expect; if you're a veteran of the adventure in question, you probably won't be fazed. In fact, you'll embrace the stiff competition, right? By the way, that PC version will launch on August 24 in North America.

DLC?..Game is already complete. So I don't find myself attracted to it but well this is how DLC should feel, like an extra and not something stripped from the main game(Capcom -__-).

I like the fact that the PC owners are going to play this too :), everyone deserves to be punished by this game and had a lot of fun at the same time with it xD

Still haven't bought the game. Had a feeling this would happen, so I guess its finally time to dive into Dark Souls world.

Nice. I like Oxvial put it. This is how true DLC should be. Not made for the game before release, but something that comes extra. I'll be all over this when it comes out as I love Dark Souls to death. I usually don't get excited for DLC, but this one is an exception.

After platinum'd Demon's Souls, I should probably start thinking about buying Dark Souls.

You and I are in the same boat. Except for the fact that I already have it. Problem is that its on backlog right now. 🙁

Oh hell yessss! I cannot wait for this. I swear, every time I look at my games shelf deciding which one to play, Dark Souls draws my eye like some malevolent presence, mocking me to have another go.
I put so many hours into it though and don't want to go back in there until the familiarity wears off a little. This DLC will be the perfect excuse to dive back in. From is the sh*t, a true "gamer's dev"

sweet!
wish the PC verision would hurry up and come out!
shame its a GFWL title though…….
way to turn your potential sales base from 100 to 1!
lets be honest this wont sell well on PC, but every PC gamer out there f*cking hates GFWL with a burning passion!
and for good reason!
sigh, what is it with developers these days and doing their best to destroy their games!?

Erm… It'll also be available via Steam, y'know.

yup, but the average download usage here in australia is 50GBs.
most PC games take up 10-15GBs of download usage right, im stuck on HALF that ATM!
sorry, but im not devoting half or more of my monthly quota just so i can download a game!

not to mention steam is a RIP OFF!
Skyrim PC off steam $99 bucks!
skyrim PC off EB $40 bucks!
thats more than 50% off!
suffice to say my great grand kids will be in the stone cold ground before i purchase a game off steam!

Considering Europe is getting a Prepare To Die re-release for the consoles, I may finally get around to picking this one up (probably not though, not enough time or money to see the desire through to the end :/)

So, no one's concerned that PC folks are getting this Prepare To Die, with all the extra goodies for FREE.

While console folks are getting to shed a considerable amount of funds to get it.

I usually wouldn't bring this up. Quite a small subject in a generation RULED by DLC. But, comparing CD Project Red and From Software…you get my drift?

That was actually one of my first wonders when I heard this news. But then, FROM Software's titles don't usually do so well as Dark Souls so perhaps they're trying to squeeze as much as they can out of their fans considering the less than favourable figures for their other games, while CD Projekt pretty much has only The Witcher, which has sold moderately well.

As mentioned though, doesn't affect me, I may pick up the Prepare to Die PS3 version when it releases, if I do at all.

Ahh. Very well. I get it. I was kinda thinking the same. Still, you know when something just, doesn't rub you the right way? Yeah.

Anyway. I'm still confused over this game. I really want this game to be an RPG but playing it over and over…

I just can't get it straight. Nothing is lacking xDD Not the point. Just maybe because we don't really evolve the character at all.

Strength, stamina and especially Dexterity, just don't reflect in ACTION on the character, d'you see waht I'm saying?

Absolutely love the slight, terrifying actions of enemies and NPCs alike. Voice acting is sublime. The story itself is great.

so basically new areas to explore and monsters to fight? now tell me.. why doesnt that "interest" me as much with dark souls as it would if any other RPG had the same type of dlc/expansions? probably because of the lck of story i guess

Well, to be honest, there is plenty of story, you just have to really, really, really, really dig for it in the game.

Why is the article picture art from Demon's Souls?
