Ni No Kuni Trailer: A Wide, Attractive World To Explore

Role-playing fans have been waiting on this one for a looong time. Or maybe it just seems like a "looong time."

Colorful, engaging and above all else, traditional , Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch will finally descend upon North American shores early next year. And for those of you who haven't been following along, this new trailer shows off exactly what you desire: gameplay, the vast, attractive world, and that unbelievable art style that so many have already enjoyed in Japan.

This is one of the most promising RPGs out there, in our opinion. While many may be skeptical due to its cartoony, even kiddie presentation, we have nothing but high expectations. All we're hoping for is a well-paced old-school RPG with plenty of great exploration and combat, and an interesting storyline. Is that really too much to ask for these days?

Me too. Gosh the music and graphics literally made me tingle. It really reminded me of Dragon Quest 8. This is being bought the moment I see find it in stores.

I think you're saying that in a good way and being nostalgic, because the alternative is that you're calling it dated, in which case, no Christmas card for you…

This is what I imagined RPGs looking and playing like in the future back when I was playing my old 8 and 16 bit systems. Finally it's happening!

Reminds me of Wind Waker. Hopefully the gameplay is there to match the excellent art. This game looks like a lot of fun.

I hope no one on this site is skeptical about the presentation, since it is Studio Ghibli after all.

Just looking at the exploration gameplay…it's going to be a gem. And a gem with without a risk of terrible voice acting! This'll be a trip where you'll want to purchase a pair of quality nostalgia classes as opposed to 3D ones =P.

If you make another 'Top 5 Exclusive' editorial this time next year, I hope this shoots up there. Hell, buy a Wii and Last Story next year and that alone will be a good year for J-RPGs in the western hemisphere.

Hironobu Sakaguchi needs to make an RPG for the PS3. Sony make it happen.

I really hope this game sells well to prove to companies that there is still a market for this genre.

http://www.ps3trophies.com/forums/ps3-trophy-news/6573-ni-no-kuni-wrath-white-witch-trophy-list.html That's the trophies for the game. From the looks of the trailer it reminds of pokemon. Can we capture monsters? D1P for me.

This can't come soon enough . Andriasang had some links to some lengthy gameplay videos. 4 of them in all I think about 4 to 7 minutes long.

Bar the introduction of Elder Scrolls and Fallout i dont play RPG's, mainly cause i just dont like other ones! both of them have FPS elements which really does help me connect with the game. But this game has been on my horizon for ages now, and i will be getting it, this will be my introduction to JRPG's, the turn based is my only doubt that i wont like this! Cant wait all the same! estimated release date?

The trailer reminded me of the classic adventure games back in the days. Beautiful! Not to mention the music… It's so adventure soundtrack.

I cross my fingers and toes that this will be the jrpg you all have been waiting for. You deserve it!
And if it appeals also to a jrpg n00b I'll join in. 😉

This game will be a day one purchase for me, and a copy for my wife, and possibly a third for my son. We're all JRPG junkies and this looks like some of the best 'stuff' in ages. The only thing that could deflect me in terms of looking forward to a JRPG is a new Valkyria Chronicles on the PS3. Which reminds me, don't forget that the tales games are coming to the PS3 also. There will be a lot of great games coming in the next few months or so, including lots of JRPG goodness as seen here.

Also, Sorcery should be coming by the end of the year, so if you want a reason to buy Move, it's coming.

The comments in this thread are brilliant.

So glad it's being recognised here after we all yearned for one….i can stop worrying now.

As for the game, as i've said before, it's the strongest competitor i have seen to FFVll i have seen in all it's 14 years available.

Square Enix?… This is a game YOU must take notes, ok? And not getting on the trending train…

It has a world map that you can walk on (and I hope it involves fighting… haven't read much of the game) and get to your destination.

It has a ship you can sail on… remember those from a looooong time ago. And for God's sake, it has a FREAKING DRAGON you can fly on!

And I think I saw a big ass town with many NPC's in one of the trailers…

Please, stop saying it's impossible (or time consuming) to do something like this? You have the experience and the resources to do this 10x better, yet you are content on making mediocre… well, not mediocre, more like taking the easiest way to make fast money…

Shame on you, Square Enix, Shame on YOU.

I really don't think Enix could do this better at all. It looks better than a lot of Soft games.
